I cannot believe how people breed - Page 1

I have been looking for a gsd pup for a while and  I have heard it all now.  I contacted a breeder and he told me  how much of a superior line he has.  He says he line breeds  " brother & sister, Mother & son, Father & daughter.   I cant believe  people fall for this and buy these pups.  what do you think?

line breeding is very common; however, brother & sister, Mother & son, Father & daughter is crazy!!! a 2-3 line breed is okay but what this dude is doing is crazy if you ask me.

Some people do it this way...but you REALLY have to know what you're doing. Also, you have to be prepared for most of the pups to have to be destroyed, all because you MIGHT get just what you're looking for. Well, if the breeder DID get exactly what he was looking for, he's not going to sell it. He'll be selling the ones that are weak and that he himself is too greedy to just put down. Anyway, that would be the commonest result. But there IS the chance that he really knows what he's doing.... 

Thats crazy, when i breed i dont like to go any closer than 4 -4.

What this breeder is doing is INBREEDING not line breeding if you inbreed you are using mother son brother sister etc line breeding is matching lines on the pedigree say 3-3 that means the same dog apears on both sides of the pedigree in 3rd generation nothing wrong with line breeding if you know the lines but again like anything there is no guarantee what you will get.

jim h,i agree fully with your posts and happytogo the only breeders who did this type of breeding here in the uk was the alsatian type breeders and i dont think that they did it that often in recent years but its supposed to be banned now by our KC.the closest that german type breeders here in the uk did was half brother to half sister(only seen a few)and grand parent to grand son/daughter.the closest i,ve done was uncle to niece.the male i kept out of this mating had 1 weak ear but he lived to 13,died naturally of old age was never went to the vets.i believe he only went for his puppy inoculations and then for cremation.if i,d hadnt had the problems in recent years that i,ve had i MIGHT have done a half brother to half sister mating(Curtis to Lily)for those who know me.wot do yu think.......would it have been wise?????Curtis is still alive aged 11 in May......Lily still alive aged 10 in june.their dam PTS aged nearly 12(cancer)granddam died aged 12,gt.g/d PTS aged 9(both from cancer)chiki ,lilys daughter still alive aged 7+.all these animals only attended vets for puppy inocs.,hip scoring,and for PTS,those that have gone.curtis has been to vets recently and had a sebacous cyst removed from his side.lily twice,abcess on her side and for spaying as she had an open pyometra and chiki with an injured leg,so this line appears very healthy and long lived to me.wot do others think.WOULD YU HAVE DONE IT????.Carole Spelman RHEINMEISTER GSDS in the uk.

considering how taboo that is considered I really doubt anyone said that,I question whether people put so many of these negative posts just to get attention
