I have to disagree with Carol,
I have been breeding and judging for over 40 yrs , and I have only had to ask a dog to leave the ring once due to aggresion. That was on another Dog not me as the judge. Aggresion is not commen in the English type or Alsatian. I know this after living with them all these years. I have seen many classes at crufts and on all occasions many dogs where just short of cripples. It is all down to the deformaty of the spine. As soon as you realise that then you will start breeding better dogs. The dogsshould not have a roach. That causes the pelvic regeon to be pushed fwd and then the dog will fall away on either front side due to the dog being half way through the cycle of movement. That is the first fault to fix, sign the forms and leave the roached backs at home. Breed to a dog with a level or straight topline and there are many programs for computers that you can keep records of every dog you come accross. By all means go to see the Alsatians. I was judge by the KC accreditor when I judged the UK club. I can honestly say not one dog was put up that was bad on it's back end except the Vet class and all the dogs in that class had varing degree's of unsoundness. but at 9 yrs old and older what do you expect. Take you rose coloured glasses off and smell the coffee. There are some great German dogs out there. I have seen them over the years mainly in Germany. Straight backs and a good front end 8 1/2 to 9 long unlike the Crufts winner that was square. Listen to Clair baldine she is an expert in race horses and movement. Their family has bred great Horses for years. She can spot poor movement in any animal because the Horse is not too far from the dog. Look at the horse and compare. When you have compiled a list of dogs no matter what they look like, that are clean then you can try and clean up. Then when you have managed to breed a decent dog you will have to linebreed to set type. When I say Linebreed I don't mean father daughter ect. that is in breeding. So get rid of deformaties and the rest will follow.

Can you answer one question why do you not see these Alsatians in the rest of the world

Hi Mike,
I wanted to have a look at your dogs but the link I found to your website seems to be broken - could you post a link?
Also, could you let me know Mikadene Highlander's hip score as I can't find it on the KC website
Many Thanks, Shirley

Take the Mickadene-more like.
Your band of alsationists ( whatever they are ) is getting smaller and a smaller and as you all generally die off we maybe can have seen their last.
Some of you english types ? make me laugh or would do if it wasn't so sad. Most of your dogs couldn't beat a tortoise down the garden path ( you have no idea what a fit dog looks like ) I have been to mixed shows where the Alsations drag their bums on the floor ( especially those bred in the oxford region ) others look like oversized corgies-I even attended one show where the puppy winner was far bigger than the open dog-scandalous !- though it had shorter legs !
Also when you mentioned inbreeding surely you mean the alsations ( just thought I would correct your mistake there ).
Your diatribe suggests to me that you are a KC inmate-and of course clueless.

well we,ll have to agree to disagree then wont we?if yu think the alsatian is correct ,THEN WHY DO YU NOT ENTER UNDER THE JUDGES FROM GERMANY (COUNTRY OF ORIGIN)OR ANY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES,OR WORLDWIDE FOR THAT MATTER?WE ALL KNOW WHY,MOST OF YOUR TYPE OF ANIMAL WOULD BE UNGRADED.my bitch has won under all types of judges.SV,continental, judges from the uk (germanic),and all rounders,uk and foreign.are all these judges wrong?ITS HOW YU DEFINE THE WORD STRAIGHT ,ISNT IT?Level is the term that your judges use to describe the backline.LEVEL IS NOT THE SAME AS STRAIGHT..AND THE WORDING IN THE STANDARD(UK VERSION)BACK BETWEEN WITHERS AND CROUP STRAIGHT,WITHERS JOINED TO BACK IN SMOOTH LINE WITHOUT DISTRUPTING FLOWING TOPLINE,SLIGHTLY SLOPING FROM BACK TO FRONT.NOW,LEVEL WOULDNT BE SLOPING WOULD IT?I go to loads of open shows and nowadays its your type that appears square.how can a dog with a supposed roach in its back be SQUARE?i didnt say that the alsatian type was aggressive did i?i think i used the term windy?one can assess a dogs temperament be looking at its eyes and most i,ve seen at shows, slink into the ring looking furtively around, eyes darting backwards and forwards, cringing when approached by the judge, peeing .that aint how they should act now is it?i dont care how long yu,ve been in the breed or whether yu judge at open or champ.level.i remember the ladys discussing an alsatian animal at last years crufts that had its tail tucked right under its belly and crouching on the floor.i know some alsatian types are not too bad and have correct temperaments but THE MAJORITY DO NOT.Until yu take up the challenge and enter your type under an SV judge and yu prove me wrong,i,ll stay with the international type ,which is recognised thru out the world thank yu very much.i do not mean to be rude about your preferred type but when yu continually slag THE CORRECT TYPE,then i will stand up for the GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG NOT THE ALSATIAN.FROM A VERY DISGRUNTLED GSD OWNER.Carole Spelman RHEINMEISTER GSDS.

Keep looking Shirley but let me warn you it will be in vain. Oh dear, I suppose when none of our type of GSD turn up for Crufts in the next two years the KC will sing the breeds praises and say what a stirling job they (the KC) have done and how wonderful it is that the actions they took with their Undertaking has corrected our breed in such a short space of time!! lol Newflash - Crufts dont interest me anymore than your next two years worth of judges.
Please everyone, just let the likes of take the Mikadene (good one pencil) and the rest of the Alsatianists and KC wallers live on in their own blissful ignorance , AW can join them too because he has lost any respect he had from the true GSD fraternity. For I much prefer to swim free in the Oceans of the world than to spend one more second floundering around in their and the KC's Globe of a Goldfish Bowl, no matter how much world TV coverage it gets.
Regards
Sue

Dont take the Mick sorry Mike After all this is a GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG FORUM and not for
ALSATIANS.
ALSATIANS.

But both of these dogs have been bred from - surely a breeder of this standing wouldn't dream of breeding from a dog without all of the necessary health tests - you know - the ones which we want to make mandatory but the KC don't want to know.
