Would any of the owners on this forum of east german line dogs that have done the OFA DM screening and tested "clear" be willing to share a pedigree?   I know not everyone is doing it, but if you have I'd love to see your dog's database page!

Thanks,
Heather

to say everyone is not doing it is an understatement OFA only shows around 500 tested  and less than half of those are clear   I'm not sure how much they update that.. www.offa.org/dnateststats.html look at the stats on the Boxers...those people better get with the program....quick

I have had all of mine done except Gala,  she was just imported and I will have her done as soon as I get her SV papers changed over to AKC.  All of mine are done thru OFA.

Rookie is Clear
Centra is Clear
Tika is Clear

Thanks Kim, checked out your website for pedigrees.  Some haus iris dogs in there, I am always drawn to those dogs for some reason.  None in my girl's pedigree though.  Very helpful,  thank you so much!

It would be a good thing too if you all understood just what this test suggests and does NOT suggest. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, the answer we need about DM and what role, if any, genetics plays.

Hodie do you think talking about it at all means that we don't understand?   Or that wanting to see more results means that we don't understand?  Genetics does play a role as far as I am concerned from everything I've seen and read, and all the debates that go on and on about it.  Genetics may not trigger the disease to show up.  And we don't want to rush out and remove carriers of this particular gene from breeding programs.  I get that.  But I still want to know if my dog carries the particular gene that this test identifies.   And I find it interesting to see which of her relatives do not.

While narrowing down my search for a breeder I came across one that screens all of her dogs for DM. As a future gsd owner i find, this is something that would definatley attract me to a breeder.
