If anyone has cerdible legal counsel on whether or not the KC can take away obedience CCs if a club refuses to sign the undertaking then can they please get it out to all club's who have not decided yet to help prevent a repeat of the BDGSDA fiasco?

EXACTLY    .... This is the one matter that will cause many "sensible" clubs to feel they have to sign, I think it is vital for some-one that has clout to get this to breed clubs too.

Whilst you are spitting sawdust Shirley, remember you and I are the luckier ones, who-ever signs up are the restricted ones...... its just a shame that 30+ years  with Birmingham and District has gone. .... and you felt so strongly about the injustice that the KC has metered out that you are even willing to put your first Championship judging appointment on the line too
More commitment like that and less folk worrying about running around collecting CC`s will produce shows that care about the health of GSD`s not their pretty coats.  slowly slowly the Regional shows will flourish and the KC will be left to see how they in fact caused the split, not the GSD folk.

Excellent idea Noddl and AnnM - I will get on to that, but I am not sure of Jeanie Strachan - any further info would be appreciated.

I think you will find that before a solicitor could express any opinion as to the legality or otherwise of the KC's actions in this respect he/she would need to see a copy of the communication which made this threat and which is alleged to have been sent by the KC to the General Secretary of the Birmingham and District GSD Association.

I will request a copy of the e-mail.

Peterlee makes an interesting point. Not one person in the room SAW the letter, it was read out piecemeal by the Gen Sec who had written to confirm, as agreed by us at our EC what they thought would happen to the obedience tickets.  It was important enough, and there were few enough on the floor to have had a copy each to read with the AGM agenda and balance sheet
I am not saying the letter was not legitimate, I am saying was it just as the press release? - a veiled threat with no substance?, and put into firm terms by the gen sec who had been spoken to already and totally convinced by Andrew Winfrow that it was the wrong thing for obedience people to sign up to this.
She had enormous pressure put upon her with her current way of thinking, A KC member telephoning her personally at home and giving "advice" as to what the KC would do - the threat from the KC in writing - and a KC member on the floor of the AGM giving his backing to the blackmail and an obedience Ch and open show in September, which is her "baby" and brings in lots of money..
However.   I have known this lady for over 30 years, and with my daughter since she was a youngster.  Indeed Shirley was treasurer of the association for some time and I was gen sec when this lady had troubles that kept her from B`ham & Dist for a few years - and it still survived.  I would have thought a bit of time taken to at least listen and peruse the documents that had been brought along would have been right.   It was agreed at the EC level that at the AGM Shirley was going to speak to the floor - and this was welcomed as all of the EC agreed with our sentiments !   However, on the night - the item became active, and the Gen Sec went right in to her feelings, and read the letter from the KC piecemeal to the club, making comment as she went.... she also, parrot fashion read out the KC undertaking (by this time pet people wanted to sleep) and had to be prompted by Shirley to be allowed to give her presentation, as it was not added to the Agenda.   As said earlier, she was immediately asked to keep it brief by the Chair at 9.15  -  one hour into the AGM.
It stinks.   Mo.
