Our Dogs have posed a question on Facebook about the GSD:

More debate between GSD people and the KC: what does everyone think about the GSD in this country today?

If you are on Facebook, I suggest that you need to get on there and defend your breed!

Health Issues dogs  : United Kingdom
The world of Dog showing in % to the population is very small indeed and just like any other pastime or sport  as an individual if it did not interest me then I would ignore it as it would have no meaning to me whatsoever. Now this is the problem we have with the media/ press etc so you need a simple example to address the problem; As I have three cars that have  MOT`s due in the very near future and the law is you must have an MOT, with a bit of luck I will  pass with all three. I mention the word PASS because if they fail they cannot be taken on the road, end of story.
With the UK  Kennel Club  they promote and want everyone to take part in all the Health Checks available to the world of dogs at our expense (we Pay), they get  credibility by telling everyone they are  the governing body and to the media they are seen to control all the registrations and showing of quality dogs.
Now the crunch, you do not have to PASS the health test to breed and register your dog , you do not have to take the test  to breed and register your dogs. A failure in any of the health test will not stop them from giving you a PASS!!!
HOW SIMPLE iS THAT TO UNDERSTAND **Now this affects all the genuine owners of pet dogs in all breeds**

Back in the 80`s when I used a male which was later found to be a hemophiliac all the owners of my puppies were sent a letter from the KC telling them they could not be bred from ?? This included the males ?? Their lack of  understanding the disease certainly surprised me ( that`s another story) but if they could stop registrations then why not now  with all the information they have from the BVA and the Animal Health Trust,  it has GOT TO BE ALL ABOUT INCOME!!  I rest my case.

Member, Excellent Point John !!!. Just the same as the Kennel Club has banned the registration of progeny from a dog who has been reported to them for biting someone at a show. Yet the KC still insist they cannot refuse (or in other words ban) the registration of dogs not undergoing Mandatory Health Checks. As we continue to maintain, the Kennel Club are but a law unto themselves when it comes to anything to do with dogdom and whatever they would have us or the public believe, the bottom line on anything is and has always been about not sanctioning anything which would effect the inflation of their financial coffers.
