I recently sold a pup to a family, I took him to my vet for his 1st check up and shots at 7 weeks old, he passed...  The family took him to their vet with in 3 days, and their vet passed him on the vet check.  She just took him to the vet at 10 weeks for his second set of shots and another vet in that office checked him and found a stage 4 heart murmur!  I am shocked and upset over this...I do not think that they are trying to scam me or anything at all like that.  I just think it is strange that that pup has a stage 4 heart murmur and no one heard until 10 weeks old!  Is this normal??  I have never had a pup with any health problems so I am trying to figure out what to do...  I offered another pup, but they want to keep the pup, me give them a breeding to one of my males, and refund part of their money.  That seems to be a bit much to me.  Am I wrong?

Yes, that's a lot to ask, especially when the heart murmur is may well resolve itself within the next couple of months.

Since they want to keep the pup I would insist of a second opinion with written statement of that Vet. If indeed its such a bad murmur than I would refund all the paid money (minus costs for shipping) and let them go as you already offered a replacement pup. I would not give them a free stud service as this is a potential higher value and can complicate the relationship between you and this buyer later on. Better have a clean cut.

Thanks...  I did request a second opinion and she took him and I am awaiting the paperwork from both vets.  I just thought it was a bit much to ask...  I think it is best if I resolve this quickly and clean...  Thank you for your input!
