Is it normal for my 9 month old gsd to have lots of hair in her poop? If not what is a good dog food to give her to fix the problem? what is also a good dog food? right now I give her science diet.

If she's ingesting hair, she'll poop hair.  Is she fastidious about grooming herself?  If you keep her brushed (a few times a week) during shedding season, this should lessen the amount of hair she's getting into her stomach.  Changing her food will not make a difference, what goes in, comes out.

thanks for the info, i'm going to try that.

what are you feeding her??  too much hair like can can be indicitive of coat condition ,she has to be chewing herself or something to ingest a lot of hair

I give her science diet, and she is not chewing herself, I don't see anything wrong with her coat.

Another thing may be hair balls on the floor, we all have them to some degree.  If she's picking toys or treats up, that is another way she could be ingesting it.  Check the floor and try to keep as much cleaned up as possible, much easier on hardwood, just use a dust mop.  When they're chewing bones especially, the hair will stick to the meat and of course will be eaten.  But, again, the more you brush, the less you'll have on the floor.

Switch foods. Science diet is cardboard. My vet won't even sell it.

Hi,

this link may help you to decide.

- the review for Science diet is towards the bottom of the page.

Orijen is a very highly recommended food - we are going to gradually switch our little guy onto the puppy version.

HTH  :)
