I love dark sables
I don't know why really they are just endearing
and I always find it funny when pet people ask " is that a wolf? " lol
I also love the changes in coat my girl Leah changes color in the spring and Autumn
she looks almost black ATM in the spring her markings become more prominent.
here is a pic of the darkest sable from our last litter

I myself have always preferred black & tan as that was what I grew up knowing or easily recognizing as a GSD. Now I find that as long as it is a good example of a GSD, color doesn't matter quite so much to me as long as it is a "legal" color. I have problems accepting colors outside the standard such as liver, blue or panda. I used to think bi-colors were "odd" looking or that blacks looked like labs (ok, some do) but I've grown very fond of sables, both dark and light. I'm just a sucker for a good looking GSD, period.

I love all the breed standard colours, but like debbiSue was brought up mainly with b/t. I do have a passion for the all black, don't know why i just do. Also love red or dark sable, Tigermouse how's that little black beauty of yours coming on?

I like all the standard colors but mostly I love the dark sables and bi colors.

My dog happens to be sable, but color to me is unimportant, or very low on the importance scale. Good dog is a good dog, no matter what the color is.
I did have a few "is that a wolf" encounters as well throughout the years.

I'm afraid my lighter sable will be mistaken for a coyote and shot. Basically, I just don't like saddlebacked black&tans or anything that would remotely associate my breeding with showline stock. I try to be polite and keep my thoughts to myself, but I absolutely abhor the overwhelming tendency of weakness found in showlines. Strong workers like Erri are a nice representative with that pattern though. I like blacks, bicolors and blanketbacks as well, but the dark sable will always have the most appeal for me.

Sables are OK, a hard, good working black and red is my ideal!
Axel of Ironwood is very nice, works hard, strong grip.....his titles haven't been updated lately he's at least a schh2, next weekend he may be doing for his schh3....not sure though.

and of course
Zamb Vlady-sal - very hard show dog, riot control dog, lots of real work, not just sport.

Everyone has a preference, I like these dogs.

My faves are the Bi-colors or blanket backs. I love a good black dog too but they are too few and far between I will probably never get my hands on a black I like. Sable is my least favorite color but even so, there are allot of sables I would throw in my kennel and keep. The darker the better. The washed out sables make me kinda, throw up a little in my mouth.
Bottom line though, color is just the first layer, then you have to look at how the dog is put together. Still I'd like a well put together Bi-color if I got to choose what coat to top the dog with.
