Can someone explain the term "Kor Classed" to me in layman's terms?

A körung is a breed survey in which a judge assesses the overall physical structure of the dog (ideally) against the breed standard.  Körklasse I (KKLI) is recommended for breeding; Körklasse II (KKLII) is suitable for breeding.

Thank you for the response, Keith.  How is this different from a conformation class?  (I'm not talking about AKC either)  I have entered my girl in a conformation class for this coming weekend and I have heard of conformation, Kor Class and breed survey and was just wondering what the difference is and/or what the ratings would be.  We had planned on spaying her but have put it off because of all the inquiries we get about her.  We want to know now just where she is compared to the standard.  Any suggestions on how I should go about getting her Kor classed if she finds favor with the judge?

I'm not sure if you're referring to American or German style shows and judging but in the German dog world, a conformation class probably refers to a show class in which your pup will be judged relative to the other dogs in the class, not in relationship to the standard.  If you think you might want to eventually try to get your dog breed surveyed (kör'ed) in the German system, you need to start looking into schutzhund training because you have to obtain a working title before the dog will be allowed through the körung.  The Germans believe (rightfully so) that if the dog hasn't proven her working ability, it doesn't matter how pretty she is.

Thanks again Keith,

My understanding is that it will be German Style since it will be at Tornado Alley Schutzhund Club in Topeka, Ks. under USA Judge Johannes Grewe.  By a working title are you talking about a BH or AD or more like the Schutzhund I?  Echo is only 14mo old but we are working towards her BH, tracking and protection work.  I agree with the Germans so I am working towards that goal.  I want her titled, OFA'd and Kor'ed  to help me decide whether or not to spay her.  If she has something to contribute to the breed after all that I may keep her intact.  That's a lot of IF's so this is just one of many steps I am prepared to follow.  If you haven't looked at my other thread yet, you can find pictures of her under -

Feel free to add your comments and again, thanks for your help.

"By a working title are you talking about a BH or AD or more like the Schutzhund I?"

All of the above.  Your dog will need both a Schutzhund I and AD before the körung as well as a couple of other requirements.  The BH is a prerequisite to the Schutzhund I so it sounds like you're on the right track.

This might help: http://www.videxgsd.com/Korung.htm (first random link I found with the requirements)

Hoo Boy!  Looks like I've got my work cut out for me!  I've seen them practicing the courage test at our club.  My girl watches it very intently.  She loves bitework, she thinks it's one big game.  She doesn't react to a gunshot other than to look towards it in curiosity.  I was the trial secretary for our club (Air Capital Schutzhund of Wichita Ks.) last month and I got to ride along with the judge for the AD.  The whole Schutzhund thing fasinates me but I'm a newbie and have a lot to learn.  I'm hoping that by the time Echo is old enough for OFA she will already have her BH and AD.

Thanks again for responding to my questions.  You have given me a lot to consider.
Deb
