Quick run down........ 7 1/2 month male. Very big, 90lbs. Growing extremely quick on half n half adult and puppy.  He has been limping on front right leg for a week now. He doesnt whine or fuss over it and still gives a hard run when both dogs are out playing. I have checked his foot, toes in between toes, pad, grabbed all his joints fairly hard looking for some kind of response but he doesnt show anything regardless of how or where I touch his entire leg. Read some info on Pano but not sure if this is what it shows itslef as.  Just looking for a little advice.

                                       Thanks  Paul

You can verify pano by pushing with your thumb on the front of the forearm just below the elbow.  The vet will give you Rimadyl and tell you to keep him quiet...it'll probably pass in a couple/few weeks but can be recurring.

Also take mobjack's advice if he's on puppy food...it may not prevent pano in a dog that is predisposed to it but it isn't necessary either.

Agree w/ mobjack... in addition make sure it is not a high protien adult food and keep him from running and jumping, I crae mine and take them out on leash to keep them calm.

Thanks for the advice. We'll give things try and see how it goes. Assuming it is Pano, is he more than likely going to have occurrences in other legs?

                               Thanks again    Paul

He is a big pup! Make sure he is not carriing any extra weight.

Search the messageboard for Pano, there has been lots of discussion on the subject.......

If it continues for much longer, have a vet take a look.

If he is on kibble get him on adult with a low protein level - around 20%, keep his exercise to short and don't let him over tax himself.  You'll probably benefit from using a crate for enforced rest.

Some people find using vitamin c - about 250mg a day also helps.

One of my pups suffered from this, often referred to as Growing Pains.  Sensible moderation of exercise, the vit C and diet change has made a huge difference to him.
