Is this a good whelping box? - Page 1

sorry, ive never used this forum before, so not sure how to upload any pics, although i will describe it very clearly.     it is 5 feet wide, by 5 feet long, now, its also 4 feet tall, this is because the bitch becomes very dog agr. while pregnant, so it permits her from jumping when other dogs come through. there is a door, also rails on bottom, i also have a support beam over the top for the heat lamp to hang from. it's made out of plywood, it hasnt been painted, or etc, does that sound ok? ive got the bottm lined with newspaper, was also thinking on putting in a floor, maybe also made of plywood. .   also if this seems to big for the moment, i can put a devider in it, not a problem.    thanks for any replies.

If you have a wooden box I would recommend putting several layers of a good varnish on it.  This will mean that it is more hygenic and you dont' have to worry about anything getting into the wood and growing there.  You should also do a couple of coats on the underside of the box.
