I'm almost 16 and i've been working with my one dog for almost 2 years now. My mom is Secretary of the Topline German Shepherd Dog Club Of Ilinois. Everyone there is really supportive but I was wondering, what do you think is a good way to start handling for other people's dogs in the ring/ and conformation? What kind of person would you hire? I'm just looking for some helpful tips and idea to get me started!

What a wonderful question! So very nice to hear of the "younger" generation wanting to get involved in the dog sports.
If you want to "learn" the proper way to handle dogs for the conformation shows, then you must find a "mentor" who is willing to teach you. There are correct & proper ways to present the dogs for the judge.......not all "handlers" do the dogs justice.....learn from the best possible.
If you need guidance, we would be very happy to assist you in learning.......remember first and foremost.....it must remain FUN!
Get your parents approval first, and feel free to contact us.

Were you at the WDA Regional conformation show this year? I may know you. m
I worked at the 2009 show and 2008 show. I would definately choose your for guidance, i'm amazed by your anials.
Pat B told me how I should really get out there and handle the dogs because of they way I handle my own. Let me know,
