I have noticed lately that many posts requesting valuable information which could be useful to amateurs (like myself & many more) are being either completely neglected or only get very few replies and mostly from people admitting no- expertise.
Where did the knowledgeable guys go? few months ago This Forum was more beneficial to real info seekers . Please go check the neglected posts on the last few pages and share your knowledge, many of us would be appreciative.

My suggestion is you find a breeder who is willing to help you and the best choice is the one you have purchased from.

Drama, namecalling, and lack of real knowledge, covered up by the latter and book/internet experience.

However, I can do without all the other BS.

After posting an ad, decided to read what was going on PD and came to this thread.
Well, it sounds like discussion is being honest here! As a breeder for some time now (about 18 years) I am amazed that someone has to ask the people on a website whom they don't know, for advice on what they should have in a dog. Many of the responders have never met one another! (not always the case here) .
1. Find a very reputable trainer with whom you share principles and work with them as a mentor.
2. Don't believe much on posts unless you know the responder well. Even pedigrees are in error so ask the breeder to forward you a copy of the original papers that are imports so you truly know that pedigree is authentic.
3. Remember, on everyone's website is The Best Dog Ever. Advice, go see for yourself then go back to #1.
thanks for asking a great question and the best of luck to you.

Thanks Nancy for your advice and for your contribution on this thread. I would like to thank all the above guys who contributed too.
I want you all to know some facts (pardone my English later on).
Some of the guys on this forum think that all threads or questions are being asked by persons living in The States, England or Germany and similar countries. NOOOOOOO.
I myself is from Jordan, a very small country in the Middle East. Till today there are no German Shepherd clubs nor registered breeders or registered trainers here. Yes it is embaressing but this is the truth. In my country there are very few pure bred GSDs and most of them are imported direct from Germany. We have excellent vets who are always ready to help on medical issues, but when it comes to general information or other specific issue with your dog there is no one here to go to. I myself surf the net for information every now and then. I joined this forum and learned a lot from reading threads. Some contributions are always of benefit to people like me.
I have two imported GSDs from two different breeders in Germany, both the breeders are nice and ready to answer a specific question on their dogs, but that is all, they will not educate you on the GSD in general or give advice on a thing not related to them directly.
I know one can not force others to share their knowledge but one can always make a request.

Ibrahim

A year and a half to two and a half years ago there were some threads on the following:
Shoulders, Rears, Backs, Croups, Color, Leverage, Proportions, and a few other interesting subjects. For those of you who are seeking "knowledge" you can do a "Search" on these subjects and get a remarkable amount on information.
