I adopted my puppy Kira from a high kill shelter at the end of May. They could not tell me much about her or what she is mixed with. The only thing they knew was she is a GSD mix. She had 2 sisters and 1 brother. Her one sister and brother had about the same coloring but her other sister had blue eyes and a blue silver-gray brindle coat. Very pretty! Here is a little of her temperament: She is very loving, mellow, smart, learns quickly, does not challenge who the boss is, loves playing , gets along great with all animals, my children, not hyper or over active, likes swimming in water, very people friendly yet protective of us. She is such a wonderful dog. I just can't figure out where the brindle is from. She does not appear to have any bully breed in her or boxer/Dane traits/appearances. She does not seem like she will get over 80-90lbs at most. The pictures of her outside is when she was about 4-5 months and weighed about 25lbs. The picture of her next to the chair is current and she is about 6--7 months and weighing about 35-40lbs. I am hoping someone can help us figure out what she is mixed with. She is our baby and we are very very happy to have her in our lives!

The muscle on the top of her head appears to be amstaff/pitbullish to me so that would be my guess. He snout is too short (IMO) to be a GSD/Dutchie cross, so maybe GSD and bully.

Pitbull for sure - and...... Malinois?  Or maybe GSD but really I don't see GSD in this dog.  Could be several other breeds, but I definately see Pitbull, and that's where the head shape, body structure, and coat color/type come from.

I have done a lot of research on looking up GSD/Pitbull mixes and they all seem to have a snot that is wider and they appear more stocky than Kira is. When I look at her I can see GSD in her face but maybe I am wrong. I would trust others who have been around alot of Shepperd's to know better about that. What do you think about DNA testing to help solve this riddle?

I can see a bit of GSD characteristics in her?...from the side profile pic. If not GSD...then a Mal, Dutchie or some breed similar.
But the muscle tone and structure...would also make me believe there is some "Bully breed" mix also.
What a pretty dog! I love the brindle markings on the different dog breeds.....hope to have a brindle Bullmastiff in my retirement age.
Good luck with your dog!

the dna tests are far from reliable from what I've heard - but might tell you if am staff (there is no "pit bull" in akc terms) and/or GSD is in there - I'm sure about the Pit Bull - there are so many varieties due to no set breed standard - but this dog looks like a Pit mix to me.  GSD - that would be the question.  She got erect ears from somewhere.

First, I want to thank you for rescuing this pretty baby!  I have to agree that there is some bully in her but that is not a bad thing.  I love a good pit.  My family has had pits and boxers.  A mix with a GSD no doubt would be loyal and protective and as with any breed, good, consistent training is what keeps a dog out of trouble.  Congratulations on your beautiful baby!

No, not a bad thing at all - I love Pittys too.  You get the nice short coat, compact strong muscular body, wonderful color, nice size, and great fun temperament with the family all from the Pitbull side - just wonder where the erect ears came from - but yeah who cares?  Nice little dog and really cool color.

She does have a little of the GSD look JMO, she's gorgeous, you picked up a real winner.  She looks like a happy dog!  I was think boxer, beautiful brindle, I bet she turns a lot of heads.  People are always asking my what kind of dog I have...it's funny.
