??????? TPO SURGERY ?????? - Page 1

Has anyone had this surgery for their dog or know of anyone who has.  Looking for some feed back my nine month old pup was just diagnosed with HD both sides.   Were having a consult next week with a orthopedic, then the tpo surgery the day after if he qualifies. Just trying to find out as much info as I can before deciding on the surgery. Thanks in advance for any help.

All I know is that they are getting really good at it....according to some golden retriever acquaintances. I knew a woman who had her dog done 20 years ago when it was about 2, and the dog lived comfortably to 13 years of age. 

We had a working line GSD back in the early 90s that needed TPO surgery in both hips, plus elbow surgery as a pup. We had the surgery done and after the recovery period, he got around just fine. His hind end movement was little odd looking and due to the elbow surgery not being succesful, he limped and was never sound enough to do any type of work. He was basically a pet for the rest of his life, but still had a good quality of life. If you can afford it, I say do it.
