KelliJasper

Hi I have a 6 month old GSD, Jasper and his testicles have not decended yet and he's already a good sized boy.
Is it normal? When do they normally decend?
I had a Yellow Lab for 10 years prior, but I don't remember about this topic with him, lol.

Thanks,
Kelli.

Kelli, anything is possible but I doubt that your boy's testicles will drop now. Sorry, I would talk to the breeder.

You should get him neutered since undescended testicles can cause him pain and possibly health issues in this situation.  They should have dropped some time ago.  Sorry that you have this problem.  Definitely talk to your breeded.  He/she needs to know about it.

Whilst unusual they can still drop, can they be felt somewhere near? It's unlikely that they will, but they still could.  He shouldn't be in pain and he shouldn't have any health risks associated with this.  It's now realised that the incidence of cancer is no greater where they're retained.  If you want to have them removed then for his health you should leave it  until he is physically mature otherwise the bone growth may be affected (ie he will be taller and this could put stress on his joints in later life) and mentally mature also.  Advice now (apart from vets who want to prevent litters and don't forget he can still sire pups if they're close to the outside!) is to wait until fully grown at least.

Hi sorry you are having this problem andI do hope they come down but I doubt it sorry  yes you should have the dog neutered before he is 3 years old as it can cause cancer  my friend had a gsd with 1 testical and she did not get him nuetered and he died at 3 and a half years old with canser the vet said if she had got him nuetered he would have been ok and lived good luck with him and enjoy him as testicals or not he will still be the same loving dog

Never known one to drop that late in age. Tell the breeder.

He has them there, they are just not dropped down like I figured they should be, they are just small. He is still growing just fine, thats him in my pic.
I had a yellow lab I had neutered when he was 4 and I didn't know the cancer risks at the time but he develouped cancer when he was 10 on his lower belly right next to his genital.
I won't neuter Jasper until he's a little older, but I will talk to the vet about this, and get they're advice. I would like to breed him one day as he has a good line and has great tempermant and everything. He's going to be a service dog for me, as I had 2 unexplained grand mal seizures in 2 years. I would also like to show him. Any comments are appreciated.
