Any suggestions on how to prevent dog collar cutting into dogs fur around neck?

The only way I know is to not use a collar!

The flat collar I use is leather also but has a soft leather backing and is tucked under and stitched so the raw end does not cut into the fur.  He has a "collar mark" from constant wear but I have never noticed actual cutting of the coat.  His collar is old, but that's why I like leather, it lasts forever.

I use a similar collar however it has a Half Check Chain section, so its sits loose but tightens up nicely when you need to pull on it.

Ronin, does that also eliminate or lessen the "collar mark"?

Halley had a rolled leather collar and it worked out well.
