What is the proper way to groom a German shepherd and what brushes and combs would you use. And will daily grooming cut down on the amount of hair that they shed? Do any of you use an animal vacuum cleaner on your dogs? Thank you in advance for your replies.

I use a rake first then a slicker brush.  Daily grooming will cut down on the hair being shed because you are brushing it out but they will still shed.  Daily brushing will make the coat shine by distrubing oils through the coat.  I have used a vacuum on my dogs.  One hates it  the other would come running if she heard it.  Loved to be vacuumed.

I use a rake and a Zoom Groom.  Daily brushing will cut way down on shedding but nothing will eliminate it completely.  I've never used a vacuum so can't comment.  Right now mine is shedding his undercoat in tufts, even with regular brushing.  It's that time of year!

I use a rake, and a brush.  Start against the grain to get rid of dust, dead skin cells & loose hairs and then go back with the grain to get it looking right.  I try to do it daily, but the truth is that 5-6 times a week is more like the average.  Right now, I'm barely staying ahead of the shedding.

Bath, dry, use rake, pin brush and then "greyhound" comb. Did my bitch (V . rated and KKL1) today and she looks great.

GSD are easy to groom.

Best,

i use a force dryer makes a huge difference most dogs love it it has a vacuum on one end and blower on the other i also use it as a hoover and its great for other jobs around the house
expensive but well worth it.

Rake / slicker here too, although really I don't think my gsds shed all that much other than blowing thier coat.  But that might just be because I'm comparing them to my HUSKY mix who sheds twice as much even though he's half their size!
