Anyone have experience with accupuncture I've got a 10 month old shepherd that the vet says has elboy dysplasia, says surgery is the cure. Can't take him back to breeder and wouldn't even if I could so want to do what's best and maybe try accupuncture or some other hollistic treatment

I completely believe in accupuncture for chonic conditions like DJD.  I once claimed a lower level race horse, and did nothing but rest him for a month and gave him 2 accupuncture treatments.  He equalled a 26 year old track record the first time out for me.  But he had arthritic changes, and no surgery was going to fix that.  Your baby is only 10 months old.  The accupuncture may ease the pain a bit, but it will do nothing to "fix" the problem.  The elbows will likely deteriorate at the same speed they would without it.  If I had a 10 year old dog that was getting sore, I'd probably lean more towards pain control then a surgical fix.  But, if it was a 10 month old, I'd be looking for a more permanent solution.  My advice would be to get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon.  The idea here would be to prevent any further joint damage, and not just cover up the pain. Good luck!
