My male does this and Ive always gotten that forbid crystal/powder stuff from the vet, which does help. Only thing is once its out of his sytem , he goes right back to doing it. Now I just watch him and tell him no when he turns around to try it and I pick it up so he has none to eat.
Switching to a raw diet has helped cut his need/want to do it also. Hope that helps some.

I had a pup that grew out of it. I also used deter. It was nothing but a flavor enhancer for him. Since he lived in the house, I finally started taking him out on a leash to do his business and disposed of it immediately.
Been a while, but I think there is a meat tenderizer that does pretty much the same thing as the pills you buy.
I had a female several years ago that did it all her life. It is a very disgusting habit to have to live around.

We are already feeding them pumpkin right now (because one has loose stools) and I was told that would both firm it up and stop them from eating it...not so much on either count right now...
/sigh

Some dogs just do it and no matter what you use they will not stop. Try to keep the yard cleaned up. I tell people just look the other way and you will not know :)).
Gwendydoll take a stool sample in to the vet to see if you have a bacteria overgrowth if the pumpkin is not working.
Always,

/crosses fingers.
The pumpkin seems to sort of work. Some of his stools are firmer, but others are still like pudding, or even looser...
:(
Poor little guy!
But he's still VERY active and happy, eats all his food and never has a temperature. It's so odd. The vet also asked us to try a new food because maybe he had issues with chicken, so we are trying him on Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice Puppy.
