My friend and I have recently been asked to help out with puppy classes at our Breed club. Thus far we have kept the classes quite short working on the sitz, platz, fuss and a recall.
Can anyone recommend some actiivities that we can include in the class that will make it fun for both the handlers and puppies - at this point all seem keen to work toward doing their BH. The pups are between four and 12 months old.
Thank you.

Hi Venessa
One of mine and my dogs favourite things is searching
Put six cones a few feet apart and place a treat under one of the cones without the dog seeing it
then ask the dog to find and let the dog use its nose to find the treat with the owner encourageing with voice alone
when the dog find the treat give it to the dog and give plenty of praise
remember all puppy training should always be FUN

We played a music chairs obedience game in guide dog puppy class, very fun. I've seen two versions; one the music stops and the owner can't sit in a chair until their dog is in a "sit" or "down" and stays there. If the dog gets up they have to stand up again.
I've also seen paper bags on the ground and when the music stops the owner has to sit their dog ON a bag (instead of chairs for the people).

We also throw in some circles. Guide the puppy to turn in a circle with a treat. When the pup is back at start (we use clicker) click and reward. Do this in both directions and at different positons around the handler ( at front, at either side and inbetween those areas). It teaches them to move their body to get to different spots. It also builds their awareness of their body. This stays with them for the rest of their life and can be useful at shows to do some warmups.

How about a mini agility course with small hurdles, tunnel and see-saw. I imagine this would be a fun for both dogs and handlers.

Yes a little confidence course with super easy obstacles, tunnels, a little low catwalk is easy to make, people love that stuff we do it with our puppies it really makes a difference,It gives them a sense of empowerment especially the ones who are big chicken livers at first

Surface changes are good, also. I have used a grate, blue tarp, clear plastic, metal tray. A ball can go under clear plastic to start scratching for the ball, then transfer to a scratch box. This method makes for faster success with the puppies. They can see the ball, feel it with their feet, yet it makes a little frustration.
