How long is a typical show lead, for the west German style conformation? Is 8' long enough?

Thanks. I have this 35' tracking line (that I'm not using for tracking) that I really like for a show lead but wasn't sure what length to cut it. I have an 8' leather lead that is the right width and "feel" but seems a tad short maybe.
