We want to fill out the AKC papers for our GSD puppy and we do not understand the process. I named my golden after his father, Mozart: Mozart's Golden Lion King (Simba). Do I name our GSD after the sire, or the dam, which is the breeder's dog? All these german names confuse me. But I want hte name to look good in case we ever decide to breed him, so I don't want to pick a silly-sounding family name. His call name is Paladin, which approximately equates to Alger in German. So, where do I get the rest of the name and where do the "vons" come in??
Thanks!

I live in the UK,it is common practice for the breeder to name all pups to be kennel club registered and yo choose which you want, then of course you give him his pet name.
May be breeders do it differently in the U.S.
