Red Leg

Just wanted to know from the folks that had a happy peeing puppy if it ever stopped and if so, how old was the dog.  my dog is 4 1/2 months old, he only pees when greeting people. he just gets so excited and happy.  he dosent pee when i play with him or pick him up.  we are trying to ignore him, trying to divert his attention with treats or toys but thats not working.  plus its hard taking him for walks and people gretting him, by the time i get to tell them not to give him the usual baby talk "your puppy is so cute" its too late.

My wife really wants this to end soon, we are installing new hardwood floors in a few weeks.

It'll probably pass (no pun intended).

Its quite common in puppies, I have never known one not to grow out of it, don't know if it will be in time for the new floor though!

i got good news today, i had some family come over today while i'm at work. my wife was home with the dog and she said he didnt pee on anyone.  she kept him leashed and wouldnt let him jump on anyone and the guests first ignored him then gave him some treats.  hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.

thanks keith and oso, i keep hearing that it will pass. hopefully sooner than later.

Hang in there...it will get better.  I didn't think my girl would ever stop.  She stopped doing it for us but anytime someone new came to see her she would pee.  We figured out the high pitched voices didn't help but what I really noticed was her peeing when someone leaned over, looming over her.  So we told people coming in to ignore her, and don't bend down to pet her and don't talk like a baby.  Normal tones, sit down, let the pup come to you (them) and that seemed to do the trick with ours.  Good luck!
