I have a litter now and plan to keep a female from this litter. I really like the show/working crosses myself. www.freewebs.com/rockinrkranch. Sire is Igel, dam is Marleigh.

I actually really love this cross. The DDR dogs have really great structures and temperament and their health is great and they have rich pigment. This combines well with the showline dogs and it can add bone and large heads to the showline dogs. I actually just did this breeding this year and ended up with a litter of seven wonderful large bone healthy pups. I kept a female from the breeding but Im thinking of selling her because I don't have the time. Here is a link to my breeding females pedigree: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/480324.html if you click on her progeny you can see the pups. The female that I kept was Cherish. They have great pigment some of photos don't really show it but again I love the DDR/Show cross. I believe they compliment each other very well.

My boyfriend has a DDR/ showline male named TJ...he is a really nice dog. Very nice working drive but yet can still settle down in the home. I really like this cross. It seems to bring the best of both worlds.

Here is the link to TJ's pedigree..

Also a friend of mine has a litter of DDR/showline pups that are 5 weeks old. I must say these are some of the nicest pups I have seen in a while...here is the link to her website. You can see the pups on her "puppys for sale" page. She also owns both sire and dam.

Jyl,

I have gotten that statement a lot when people came to see my litter, "these are some of the nicest pups I have seen in a while" I also believe it brings the best of both worlds or at least close to it. I believe the showline breeders could get a lot of new blood by infusing their lines with some of the DDR blood. They can help with pigment. Thats why I bred my female to a solid black stud so that her female pups won't have such a pronounced bitch stripe as she does. I mean color isnt the only reason, but thats a hot topic nowadays. I have noticed that there are some breeders who have been doing the DDR/Show cross and their progeny look great.

Very beautiful results. Im going to breed my DDR/Showline female back to a showline male and see whats the result. I believe if linebreed on one of the better dogs in the pedigree the outcome will be very nice. Just like the dog above. I have posted so many threads on the DDR/show cross.

My litter was Czech/DDR x West German showlines; my puppies are just gorgeous. (yes, I'm a little prejudiced in their favor! LOL!) Great pigment, great temperments, nice drives, very quick learners, easy to train...all my puppy owners are very happy, including me. I'm keeping 2 females, & have 1 little sable male still avalable, if I decide I can part with him! I think he'd make an awesome sport dog, but he's such a love-bug, too...don't know if I can sell him! (And haven't really been trying too hard...jh

I'm also really considering doing this type of cross early next year.  Still doing my homework =)
