Liesjers

by Liesjers on 07 October 2009 - 14:10

Hi all, I lurk here a lot and post sometimes so I thought I'd introduce myself and my dogs.  I am one of those annoying people that loves both working and show line dogs and will probably always have both!  I have three dogs.  My oldest is a working line bitch, she will be 6 years this month and I got her when she was 3 years old.  She is my first GSD and my first dog.  We've done titles in rally, SDA/UKC Dog Sport, agility, and she has her CGC, TDI, temperament test, and herding instinct.  She's also a UKC champion but that was done by her former owner/breeder.  Currently we are training for the BH, which we should have done last spring but I took the summer "off" with her to focus on the foundation work for my young male.  We will maybe try the BH at the OG Indianapolis trial next month, depends on if I have the money to travel and can get her a scorebook.  I don't do protection work with her, she doesn't have the right temperament for it, but if I want to try another performance event I try it with her.  My second dog is a 3 year old mix we got from a rescue.  He is a low energy, low drive pet.  Basically got him for my husband b/c he has little interest in training GSDs like I do, but go figure the goofy mutt is my heart dog.  My third dog is a show line GSD and he is 13 months old.  He is 3x VP and over halfway to his UKC championship (which he earned in one day).  He also did great at his herding instinct, but the herding trainer is very popular and has a waiting list right now.  We are doing Schutzhund and dock diving and I will probably start agility next summer.  We missed the Bur Oak show but he will be in the Chicago SchH Verein show in a few weeks.

Here's their pedigrees

Stacking practice for me! He's good at holding stil for me and he has handlers for the WDA shows but I want to do the UKC shows myself and he's my first show dog.

I love this goofball, I still think of him as my little puppy even though he's getting big and powerful

Nikon is stunning.
Good luck with everything!

Both of your dogs are beautiful.
Kenya looks powerful and Nikon show just enough but not too much refinement.
Both to be proud of!

Nice to meet you & your canines
I think I have seen photos of Nikon before (I have looked at the "Long Dangerous Tails" blog).  He is a very handsome boy.  It looks like you are doing a great job with him, keep up the good work

Both dogs are gorgeous and I especially love the dark face on Nikon.

HI!
I love the pictures of your dogs! They are gorgeous. I have a 2 1/2 year old workingline male that I just started in SchH and also a showline female that was sent to me as a gift by a friend overseas.  I don't know a whole lot about Schutzhund yet, and even less about ring showing, but I don't think my female is show quality, so I'm considering starting her in SchH in the near future. She's still pretty young, and  she's just being my goofball buddy right right now :-) I recently started some drive building with her, so we'll see. My husband is getting a female workingline puppy next month from the breeder of our male and we are very excited about her.
I am not experienced enough to offer all kids of advice and a wealth of knowledge but I really like talking about dogs and have met some exceptional people on here that I now consider my friends :-)
Welcome aboard and thanks for sharing the pictures and info. I agree with Denise, I'm partial to dark faces ;-)

I'm so sorry to have left Kenya out!  She is just as beautiful!
Where is the pic of your rescue mix?

I just happen to love the looks of Nikon because he looks just like my boy at that age, black mask and all!   I checked his pedigree and there are some common ancestry.  They both look happy and healthy and BOTH are gorgeous.  But, what impresses me most is that you truly have the the best for both in mind.  It's nice to hear someone who is in tune with what is good for the individual dogs, no matter the lines they are from.  I'm sure you'll have nothing but joy in the future with these two, thanks for sharing and bravo!

Very beautiful, nice looking dogs, good luck in your training. Nikon's pigments are very rich.
Always,
Cee
