People have participated (without getting ugly) and this has been viewed quite a bit. I believe this is the point of the database and this discussion board. Open discussion and debate regarding the breeding of GSD's. People are always talking about bloodlines and pedigree,are they not? So how could an in-depth discussion on the dogs used and the history of the breed be pointless? Even if it is unproven theory? Sure my theory has no proven fact. It is something I enjoyed taking the time to look at, study, and come up with a hypothisis. I guess it's the 8th grade Zoology nerd coming out. I believe Antwerpa kennels bred Arco PDT into there lines. I believe it is very possible my theory could be correct. Unless we go over and talk to the Anverpa breeders, we will never know. But if anyone still believes there is not Malinios in Antwerpa lines, you must be smoking something funny. Today, 15-20 years later there may not be much Malinios in them but that is how long it takes to establish your program and have any cross bred dogs breed true. I am sure there are many other kennels that have done or are currently doing the same thing. I'll bet there was some of this going on in the showlines as well. What dogs, what breeds, who knows? I'll bet there is some old school showline guy out there who knows something about Collies:) The SV is not the all mighty. It is not an organization that is interested in the preservation and well being of the breed. It is no different than the AKC. Money. I found that out when 4Pack contacted a breed warden with a complaint about a dog she bought that had obviously been terribly neglected, abused, and puppy milled at a showline kennel in Germany. The warden said she had inspected the kennel, found nothing wrong, and the dog's condition must have happened here in the US. The dog had been in the US less than a month. Don't believe the hype. The hype is why GSD's can cost 10, 50, 100 Grand and at the same time be totally F'd up. If someone really wants to talk about the lines or what not; go find out what the lines really are. Don't blindly follow what others say. Including me and my B/S.

oops, But I can say I did learn something about both Malinios and GSD's from this thread.

I know of at least one litter that is half dutchie that no one knows about - so I do know for a fact it does happen. And on the belgian note - I was just at a show that was put on by Belgian people - in the FCI and the UKC the breeds are all the same breeds but different varieties :D I knew there was a reason I liked the UKC better than the AKC :p ~Cate

Look at Funk to Funky Perle de Toubiere then hit his pedigree....... Now assuming this pedigree is correct, who is Grandpa on the bottom? Arco Perle de Toubiere. Sure seems like alot of GSD looking Malinios go back to this dog and Antwerpa kennels used his lines to produce a "Malinios" Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

suppositions make me nervous because that's how wars are started. If you have proof bring it, if you are simply wondering, that's fine too, but unless you can prove it through verifiable DNA this is just rhetorical banter. Not too long back there was a link to a guy who had of his own admission created the "super dog." This is not entirely new news. Even through purely GSD breeding you could through a matter of time produce a "miniature" gsd, or other mutant variation. It is a distinctly human trait... albeit not a very good one.
