Hi,

Currently I have these two show line dogs:
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/557038.html
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/604841.html
If anyone likes to comment on them or critique I shall not be offended.

I read so many discussions here abou show line and working line, I read discussions on various types of working lines and I would love to have a Czech working line female puppy myself.
I have a Slovakian friend living here in my country (Jordan, Middle East) who will be visiting Slovakia in December 2009 and more than willing to get me the puppy with her on her way back which will reduce the cost of shipping.

Question: Is there a seperate GSD type Slovak or it is the same Czech?
Can anyone recommend a breeder in Slovakia, if not a Zech breeder?

Thanks a lot

Ibrahim, how are you?  How do you like your two dogs?  Are they similar in temperament?  Are you happy with the second pup?  How is it going?

OK since you  are asking, I guess I am going to shamelessly toot my horn here  now.  I am importing dogs from Czech all over the world. Please feel free to check my website;
http://www.alpinek9.com, I have introduced Czech working dogs to USA and many other counties. I can help you to import dog from Czech. I am dealing strictly with  www.jinopo.cz. My partner, friend and owner of jinopo  Jiri Novotny was instrumental in creating z Pohranicni staze lines. I'll be happy to set up a meeting for your friend with my friend Jiri. Please feel free to send me PM.

Red Sable,

I am very happy with both of them, Georginia was born on Dec 31, 2007 she is relatively a grown up now. Kai was born in March this year. Both are  of good temperament but Georginia is more Jealous. Georginia barks at outside fence dogs but does not guard the farm as if it is not her duty. I have seen working line dogs at my friends farms who guard and protect their farms.

Prager,

As a matter of fact Jiri offerred me a bi-color female puppy from ARNO z Petrova x SEDRY od Roubenky litter but the price maybe high when shipment to Slovakia is added up but I still have to see other choices.

I will keep you posted.

Ibrahim,

Couple of nice looking dogs you have there. You may well find the male will be more protective of the property but you will have to wait until he's a lot older say 15 months on.

We bought our own hound when he was around that age and he didn't start properly protecting our garden/house until he had both bonded with us and was around 18 months old. Whenever he barked at the appropriate time e.g. strangers at the gate, people knocking at the door etc we always gave him a "Good Boy" to make him realise he was doing well.

It then doesn't take them time to catch on.

Cheers,

AandA,

I agree and you are absolutely correct but I think from the few dogs I see here that working line has it in him or her to protect even without any training, the show is much softer if I could put it this way. I love my both show GSD but they are mostly interested in us taking care of them, play with them, pat them etc. If you ignore them for a couple of hours they will come to you having that look (I want you to show me some passion).
