Well another Nationals has come and gone and it was AWESOME> I know some of you don't care about it but I also know there are some that do. I think the dogs are looking better and better and not as long in the stifle and so sloped as they were. History was made Sat. Never before have littermates both gone select. The male did beat out the female for Grand Victor. I am going to attach pics. I tried to scan them but they were too big so I took pics in the review with my camera. I think overall the bitches were better then the dogs.
I did see some of the obedeince teamwork--that's 4 in sync-and I wasn't too impressed. I did see a dog from a kennel that is well known for breeding oversize dogs--" like the old fashioned ones"  NOT--anyway I am not going to put up any names. It was the first time I had seen them in person and I was NOT impressed. Poor dog looked like it hurt him to walk and sit and he didn't want to sit--I guess it hurt him.  I read on the website last night they took 2nd place so I guess they were better then the 3rd team which sort of surprises me.

Generally the dogs are better than the bitches. Few kennels - including Witmer - actually produce decent bitches. Kaleef is a given, but not all acts are agreeable..

Hello-
I am Ellen Migliore, breeder/owner of the 2011 Grand Victor of the U.S. @ the GSDCA National, GV.MV.Am. & Can. Select Exc. CH. EJM N' Eko-Lan's Eli. Eli's littermate, who was sold early on to Bob & Charlotte Funk and in name only co-owned by the Fasano's and Fred Migliore and myself was the 2011 Grand Victrix of the US. Am. Grand CH. Eko-Lan N' EJM's Encore. This is the first time in the history of the GSDCA that littermates have garned the title of GV and GVX at the same National/same year. Excited is an understatement!
Fred Migliore and Elaine Estep were the co-breeders on this litter. Elaine is passed now, but I know she must be doing cartwheels in heaven looking down! Thank you so much to the fancy for your support over the years. Eli was the Winners Dog @ the GSDCA National and Select 7 in 2009. In 2010 he was Maturity Victor of the U.S. and Select 2 and this year he went all the way. Eli's is that once in a lifetime dog who can go from couch to show with no conditioning inbetween, no shows for a year and just a bath before the show! He is my "natural dog", loves life chasing the wildlife, swimming in a pond when he's not suppose too and just overall causing trouble and watching out for his Mom!

Good Morning Ellen and a big big congrats to you. Not only for the great win but also for the breeding of 2 great dogs. When the bitches came out I picked Corey as my fave having no idea what she would accomplish that day. Right before the dogs came out after lunch break, I decided to pull my chair right up to the rope so I wouldn't miss a thing and get run over in the process. Even tho I have been in the breed for quite a while the show world is still fairly new to me. To have history being made right before my eyes was something I will never forget.
Thank you for taking your time to come on here and put things into your own words. I think Mr Eli definately deserves a big fat juicy bone and the best seat on the couch!!!!!!!
Again congrats. Oh and needless to say congrats to Kent--he and Eli were definately in sync on Saturday...................

Ellen, I wanted to send my congrats to you as well!! You must be so happy and proud!!

This is a bit of a working dog forum where ScH predominates so not sure you will get a lot of feedback.....

But, people sure would be shocked and THRILLED if one of the dogs you bred went on to get a working title!!  That would be VERY cool!! I think maybe it would be the first time a GV ever had a working ScH title!!!  Just some food for thought!!

Again, a big congrats to you!!!

I think it would be the first time a GV earned a Sch title!! There is only one Am bred AKC CH with a Sch3 and KKL1. I think more Am breds could earn Sch titles if their owners were interested in it.

Blitzen...yeah, how cool would it be to have a GV earn a ScH title!!  It would be so, so awesome!!!

I don't see a lot of interest in Sch from the ASL people. They haven't seen a trial and think it's "teaching a dog to bite" and they don't want to do that. Most like to train their own dogs and it takes a certain amount of skill and determination to HOT a dog to a Sch title. It's not always easy to find a Sch club that wants to train Am show lines (and GSL's).  I think the deck is stacked against a GV earning a Sch title. Not always because the dog isn't capable, because it's just not a priority with most ASL breeder/owners.
