A WORKING LINE GSD.

Not yet though. At the moment I'm just doing my research. I have just gotmy dogs involved in the very first part fo Schutzhund (BH training and tracking). My WL bitch cannot do the protection work or obedience because of her HD and my 2 boys are SL GSDs. Although they do have the necessary drive, I think they're too "flat" for the sport.

In approx 4/5 years from now, I will be looking to purchase a WL pup. I would prefer a GSD but would consider a Mali too. I woudl also prefer one from the UK as there would e little or no transport costs and I could easily see the dog before I buy. But for the best dog I could afford I would consider travelling to Germany, Belgium or the US.

So could anyone here please recommend a great breeder please? I know a lot ofyo on the board are breeders yourselves so by all means recommend yourselves. I would like to why you're recommmending someone though.
I am most interested in a dog with the necessary drive for Sch but if it turns out that they never get titled then it doesn't bother me much. I will do what I can with the dog and if that is only the BH, Obedience and Tracking then so be it - although I would certainly like a dog who is able to do the bitework too.

Thanx for reading.

4 or 5  years is a long way down the road from now. One never  knows what can or will happen.

I agree with lovejags.  4-5 years away is too far away.

So much will change in that time. Soemone could recommend a breeder now and they could be dead or there could be a better breeder out there, etc.  Too many unknowns.

I say if the SL dogs have drive,  then give it a go. Why wait. The dog may not get far or may go all the way. But in 4 years YOU could learn alot about your dogs, the sport, and training in general. Don't limit the ability of the dog just because the dog isn't from working lines. While training you may find the dog  loves to track and now your down a new path to discover. Never underestimate what your dogs can do or what you can do WITH your dogs.
