I am trying to contact my vet but its difficult on a Sunday.

Yesterday afternoon this puppy who is a week short of three months was playing outside with her sister, another slightly younger puppy and a female who they normally share a kennel with and who is always good with puppies.   We were inside watching TV when suddenly we heard a puppy screaming repeatedly, by the time I got outside all three puppies came running in to me an all seemed fine, I checked two other puppies that were in a kennel with another female but they were also fine.  We finished watching the film and about 15-20 minutes later I called the puppies to feed them and put them away but one did not come.  I later found her but she was very unresponsive, did not want to come to us, did not eat anything.  I could not see any sign of external injury whatsoever.  Later she tried to vomit but just a little clear liquid came up. Later on she seemed a little better but definitely not her usual self. This morning at first she seemed more responsive and was moving around more with the other puppies but she still will not eat and her temperature is 39.5 degrees C, she is depressed and lethargic.

My first guess on hearing the screaming was that one of the puppies had put her nose into one of the kennels and got bitten but no signs of any bites, then at first last night I thought she was just freaked out by whatever had happened but its obviously more than that or she is sick and the screaming was just a coincidence, but she had been fine all day-  Maybe she fell and has concussion, there are no snakes around here could anything have bitten her? did she swallow anything she shouldn´t have?...I feel guilty now for leaving them unattended as  I do not know what happened.  I am hoping it will be OK to take her to the vets tomorrow but keeping a careful eye on here in case she gets worse.  She is drinking water.   Any ideas???

Oops i forgot to mention I found vomit (I think, lightish, mucus) in the kennel this morning, two lots) the other two puppies are fine.  Well I realize its a bit silly writing about this as know one can know what happened, but sometimes people have had similar experiences.....I am giving her rehydration salts instead of water cannot think what else to do for the moment.

The yelping you heard may be completely unrelated to what is wrong with this pup.  Does this pup have diarrhea?  If so, you need to get her to the vet immediately and have her checked for parvo.

Yes, I know the yelping could have been unrelated, but if so its very much of a coincidence, and she had been perfectly well and eating normally all day yesterday until the late afternoon when this happened. No diarrhea yet but I am keeping her apart from the others now (though it would probably be too late if anything contagious).  She does have the first two vaccinations but I know that is not always a guarantee, will keep a careful eye on her.

she could have gotten a impact problem do all her ribs feel intact? she could be haveing a issue internaly from being pushed up against something or falling off something we had a puppy kind of act like this and we looked at our security camera and found out she jumped off a high area and landed on her head prob 2 feet max but she was like this for 3 days kinda careful not wanting to eat and such and then she became perfictly normal i had xrays done to make sure nothing was broken my puppy just had one heck of a headache.

Interesting Siantha I was wondering if it could be something like that, there is a small set of steps where she could have fallen (lots of puppies have in the past but they usually bounce quite well!).  Her ribs feel OK though....she has not got any worse, possibly a little happier looking though still not eating.  She will go to the vet first thing tomorrow if not any better.

Not sure where you live, but could she have encountered a snake? depending on where she got bitten it might not show up in an obvious manner.

Saw this yesterday and I wonder if she got stung by a bee.  In the mouth.  My GSD puppy.. (ha.. a year old.. but lets not go there...) loves to try to catch bees.  If your pup got a bee or a hornet she could have a reaction to the poison AND a sore mouth... and she would most certainly yelp.

Just a thought.

Rass I was thinking the same thing....all my dogs catch bees and yellow jackets (no idea why, of all things to catch) Anyways if they get sting you will hear a yelp and than for next few days who ever got stung would barely eat, just drink..rub her face in the grass or dog bed...usually you cant even see swelling but after 2 mad dashes to the vet i just let them be now...just one of possibilities...hopefully its nothing serious.
