just had my german shepherd judged by the scotish kennel club, what a disgrace, is there a breed standard any more?
are these german shepherds? the look of digust around the ring said it all, one lady refusing to have her dog judged, a member of the public asking if this was a freak show,
no this is the english square back shepherd and  cross breed section, u've got to dispair for the breed,
anyway looking on the bright side was thinking of starting a new breed, the english akita(japanese) as i dont know anything about german shepherds anymore

I have seen that Judge before - no way I'd bother putting a GSD under her.  The number of entries said it all - even the Alsationists didnt turn out!

The judging today at SKC was possibly the worst judging I have ever witnessed in my life!!! and I have been showing in the breed some 28 years!.  The judge did not check any males to ensure entire, she drew her nail along the teeth of any dog which wore a pulling collars to see if there was a negative reaction, whilst other GSD's with choke chains were treated in a softer manner, not one dog was stood and assessed correctly by the judge until after the class had finished.

The KC breed standard clearly states the following:-

Temperament
Steady of nerve, loyal, self-assured, courageous and tractable. Never nervous, over-aggressive or shy.

I can assure you all, that there were many winners today which were extremely nervous, hind legs shaking as they attempted to be stood.  Still these dogs whom were not steady of nerve were placed 1st!  Shocking.

The judge seemed more interested in the coat than anything else.

Oh and the most laughable thing was the judge was "double handling" , the one major thing the KC is against in our breed (double handling/outside attraction) and the judge was doing it inside the ring trying to get the dogs ears up!!!!!

Joke, the KC really need to sort themselves out, these people should no longer be allowed to judge as clearly she did not have a clue what she was looking for in a German Shepherd!

and yes I was entered and no I didn't show my dog, I chose not to on this occassion.

i have wrote to the skc and asked for a refund as my dog was not judged fairly and have listed reasons why, people travel miles to these shows week in week out, the least we can expect is to be judged fairly, please write to the skc maybe they might listen if enough people do it

Hi Mandy, the double handling was great. The so called judge picking up leafs and waving them at the dogs to get there ears up (priceless) .we withdrew our bitch as well.I took my parents to the show as they wanted to see real gsds.Even my mother was amazed at what was going on,she asked at the start if the long dogs had something the matter with them. This from someone that does not know the breed,THAT SAY'S IT ALL FOR ME.

Just a suggestion as was not at the show - Google the Judges name and you will be surprised as to what comes up!
The KC have taken our CC's away for 2012 !
