So sorry for your loss! My heart goes out to you. The article is very interesting and I hope that it will help clear up all the variables in seizures.  It seems it will help define what is genetic and what is caused by other things that have nothing to do with genetics and can very will have environmental and other external and internal causes.

I don't know dobermanman/Thomas from the days of Adam, but did agree with him when he made a good point which hit bulls-eye, IMO.  The "clique" destroying reputations of people they have an axe to grind with, using a casual viciousness, is something I have been observing over the past several months.....one does not need "Kontrol" to indulge in such actions.

You fail to realize that the 'breeders' who are 'having their reputations ruined'
are doing that all on their own right?
It's those 'breeders' own actions and conduct that actually draws the attention
of people. 

Kraftwerk has produced some fantastic dogs, but, in the wake of those
fantastic dogs, there has been a lot of very unhappy and dissatisfied 
customers and very sick dogs & puppies. Do I think you can get a good
puppy or dog from Kraftwerk? Yes, I am sure you can. Would I recommend
them to anyone? Hell no.  Having actually known more than one person
that has purchased a puppy from Kraftwerk, only to have that puppy arrive
at the airport sickly, I can say with confidence that the follow up customer
service offered by Kraftwerk during those incidences was beyond pathetic.
Phone calls go unreturned, emails unanswered etc until after the '72 hour' 
window that was provided for in their sales contract at the time.  

And aakay, you accused me of being a breeder on the 'and the truth shall prevail'
thread, since that ones locked, I'd like to just let you know, my wife and I are in fact
not dog breeders, nor are we dog brokers etc. We both work in non-dog related
careers, we don't rely on the sales of dogs and puppies to pay our bills.
Never have, never will. We do in fact try our best to assist anyone that approaches
us for help when it comes to finding well bred puppies and dogs, and we do that
at no charge. Sometimes that means we call in favors from friends to check out
dogs or puppies for these people, but at the end of the day, if we helped someone
avoid being loaded with bullshit by an unethical breeder or broker, well, that's a
pretty good 'payment' enough to us.

As for Kraftwerk, my assumption was that they are a large kennel and thus among the 100s of dogs that they sell every year, statistically, a few will turn out to be less than stellar.  However, I had no idea of their avoidance tactics to skirt their 72hr deadline, after shipping a sick puppy.  

Based on their sales volumes, they should have enough bandwidth to take care of the few sub-par pups that come out of their kennels, I would presume ? I have till date dealt only with purely ethical breeders and have not had any such bad experiences - yet, and thus not able to fathom why someone like Kraftwerk would want to pull a fast one like this. Permanent loss of reputation with its long term effects, and very little to gain !

Thanks for your input. Topics like these would be a lot shorter and a lot more productive if comments  good or bad were limited to people with direct knowledge and dealings with the kennel. Instead we wind up with post after post from the same people of second and third hand rumors and distortions of facts. If you don't actually know anythng? Do us all a favor and step away from the keyboard and go train your dog.
