Karen Tarqwyn is going to set aside 2 hours with me in the morning and we are going to get on google earth so she can see the layout of the land and give me some ideas of what to do as far as searching until she can get here next week.  Right now she is in california tracking a dog and then she has to make a quick stop in nevada to check in on a case, then she will be here with her tracking dogs andwe can hopefully find her quickly.  Karen told me to put Halley's bedding in a bag with 5-6 pieces of guaze so the guaze will absorb her scent and thats what the dogs will be using to pick up on her.  We were also looking into helicopter rental so we can possibly skim over some ground.  We are in the process of rounding up some horses from friends so we can use them to cover more ground and look out for her better rather than having to watch where you walk so you don't fall on your face.  A friend of the familiy said they saw her this morning on her way to work about 2 miles south of our home.  If all of these sitings are accurate Halley is all over the place.  We rushed to that site but no luck.  This is getting frustrating, but I am NOT losing hope.  Thank You for all of your prayers.

A sighting!  Very promising, I hope it was accurate.  Maybe surround a mile around that area, as many people as you can muster.  Stay put and call, food won't hurt either, she's got to be hungry.  Fingers crossed.

Halley7,

Keep your spirits up!  Here in Wichita Ks. a GSD lost over a year ago was just reunited with his family.  A soldier was deployed and his dog went missing shortly after.  Apparently he turned up at a farm and was taken in and taken care of until he began chasing cattle.  Then it dawned on them that the dog might have a chip when the decided to take him to a shelter.  Long story short, he had a chip and his family was contact shortly after the soldier returned home.  Happy ending a year in the making!

Very hopeful story, thank you.  We have a gentleman from Hearts United Animal Rescue coming up here today with a team of tracking dogs in training.  He told me that these dogs are rookies but it is worth a shot.  Anything that might help us is completely worth it.

He traveled over 30 miles with the largest city in the state between home and where he ended up.  No clues as to how he ended up there.  I don't remember just when the farmer found him but he was in horrible shape, thin, coat dull etc.  They took him in and just loved him and took care of him and then he developed an interest in their cows and started chasing them so they decided to take him to a shelter.  It made the local news and both parties were crying over him.  The older farm couple really hated giving him up but were happy to find he had a home and was missed.  The soldier was distraught over losing his dog and the dog not being there when he came home from deployment.
My brother was overseas while in the reserves but only for a month but the same thing happened to him.  He came home to no dog.  Our whole family was upset but Rebel had been gone for weeks when someone saw a flyer and called my brother.  Turns out he was only a couple of miles away but the people took him in and took care of him because he sat at their back door and barked to be let in!  They knew he was someone's pet by the way he demanded to come in, made himself at home etc.  He was very old at the time and probably too weak to come back from his excursion.  My brother lives on 80 acres in the country and actually has the hidden fence to keep him from wandering but on occassion he would escape.  He was smart enough to know the pain would stop soon if he just kept moving forward.  My sister-in-law let him out and he was gone.  She was soooo upset but these things happen.
I almost lost my dog one morning because someone had opened the gate to our fenced yard.  If I had just let her out instead of accompanying her for her moring potty she would have been gone.  We now lock the gates so that doesn't happen again.  Don't beat yourself up, just keep looking and never, ever give up hope!
