Jaymesie – ‘at the KC shows a dog with hd-ed-heam-epilepsy etc can and does win the top award at the moment that is what we have here’. And THAT is what damages this breed more in this country than anything else. Wake up and smell the coffee. What do people think the Jemima Harrison program was about? It was about exposing this and all the harm which flows from such a system.
From within an SV style club people can, and should, actively campaign against the KC system not condone and encourage it by taking part in it.

Peterlee, do you show your dogs?
We'll have to agree to disagree about Jemima Harrison; I see her programme as a missed oppo' to show the KC up for what they are... a money making old boys club, stuck in a time warp! Nobody (gen public) I've spoken to, blames the KC... they all blame the breeders!
I believe a real dog lover, armed with what she has now been told, would really expose the KC... and maybe she will, but there's been no indication of that yet. This is my opinion, I am not trying to force anyone else to share it.
Until we're up and running properly, I think the vast majority of us will show at KC shows... unless, they find a way to stop us... bet they're trying as we post! If I am forced to select, I will of course, dump the KC.

For anyone who is interested the objects clause I have drafted for a club based on SV lines reads as follows:-
>>3. OBJECTS
3.1. The objects (hereinafter referred to as “the objects”) for which the Company is established are:-

3.1.3. to promote, encourage, develop and support shows and events for the German Shepherd Dog within the UK which are compatible with the WUSV/SV system;
3.1.4. to promote and develop within the UK a system of Breed Surveys for the German Shepherd Dog which is compatible with the WUSV/SV system;

In the seventies I handled a female to her title. The female had a terrible character and she should never have been awarded the title “Champion”. Two tickets were from All Rounders and the other from a Breed Specialist. After the female was made up I was asked by several well known people to handle their dogs with similar character faults. I refused and, I never handled the Champion female again much to the owners regret. Fortunately, she had no influence on the breed as she was only mate twice. I did not attend another show for about two years and I was ready to quit altogether rather than accept that character. I then became involved with the German side and thereafter I only showed a dog under an SV judge and using German bloodlines in my dogs. That was my principle then and it reflects my principles towards the breed now.

Mackenzie, you say: Nobody wants people to stop their hobby whatever side of the fence they are on but it is hypocritical to shout for one side and support the other with fees and physical presence.
I disagree. I would be unlikely to give up my job (no matter how much I hated it) without having another to start. Showing our dogs is our hobby, we will use the KC shows, only for as long as we need them... if they let us!
An opinion is not a fact. Our opinions differ.

You are absolutely right - our opinions do differ.

Peterlee,
When we have the right vehicle to take this forward then, yes, I will be Treasurer if I had the support of the members.
I am a Chartered Accountant and am asked many, many times to stand as Treasurer for various organisations but resist because I only do things with 100% commitment and I have limited time but I would make time for a serious opportunity to help on this matter.
I can't speak for Mum but I can guess her answer
