You both are right!

Once again, I congratulate Blitzen on the accomplishment and don't want to take away from that!

"Hundmutter, she was barely panting by the end of the run. I guess those darned ASL's do have something good about them - they can cover a lot of ground in one step. She ended way ahead of the rest of the pack - workinglines and GSL's, one Mali and 3 rotties, 1 of which didn't make it to the end. That must be why the ASL breeders like all that angulation
. Good to know, isn't it?"
This is what I said about the AD, I don't think I implied that she did well due to her superior conformation. In fact much of it was said in jest- see the highlighted areas. I do not think that a dog should be judged by only looking at it's pedigree which seems to be the typical way of doing things here - if it's an ASL, it must be crap. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that anyone else's dog earned a title and bested the rest of the class because the competition wasn't up to par. I would be happy for them.
Check please.................

Who brought up the point of workinglines, Mali, and Rottie, for a comparison to be made....check!

Gustav, owners of GSls and ASLs are not very welcomed on this board.
In this case Blitzen is proud of her ASL, and at that AD trial she was able to show that an ASL isn´t that bad at all.
I stick with the German standard my whole life, but everybody should acknowledge good work -
her female did a good job, and the puppy out of this female even did a better one.
There are a lot of snobbish people on this board, complaining about SLs, but without showing any results on their own.
A good dog is a good dog, no matter, where it comes from - I´m pretty sure, both of us believe in this statement - but a lot of people on this board don´t.

I don't believe that ASL and GSL dog owners are not welcome on this board....I do believe that many on this board are more critical of cosmetic and performance extremes in the breed, whether it be a hyperactive dog that won't settle, or a nervous skittish dog. I have often raved about Bullinger SL dogs, or even Kirschental S L dogs....because I see them the same as any other GS in terms of what the breed should be, IMO.
I would be naive to say I don't see your point, but I think most feel a good dog is a good dog, unfortunately the extremes on both sides has allowed opinions to become sometimes unbalanced and mean. This is wrong, regardless from where it comes.
I will be mindful of your post and go back to only commenting on positive things. The only problem is people doing this are enabling the continuation of extremes and likes. I apologize to Blitzen if she thinks I don't view her achievement as positive, because I do!

Nobody wants you to commnt on positive things only, this wouldn´t help, but people sometimes are thoughtless and brutal.
I know that you have an open mind to a good dog, no matter where it came from, but a lot of people don´t.
Off topic right now, but something to think about - people offen refer to "kennels" like Kirschental for good SL, Salztalblick for good WL ( only examples, I don´t want to blame anybody ).
These kennels belong to the biggest kennels in Germany, a famous kennel name doesn´t automatically produce always great dogs. These breeders produce litter after litter, and they don´t use their own females out of their proven lines all the time. It´s not the kennel name, it´s always about the dog and its ancestors, but some people tend to buy a famous kennel name, not a good dog.
I´m thankful for the famous dogs these breeders bred, but I´m aware of the hundreds of dogs I never would consider to buy.

I have been in Sch clubs in which four dogs were straight from Karl....3 were better than the fourth ...you are right no kennel produces all positive dogs!
