I am wondering if anyone has photos of the closing ceremony awards? how about photos of the working class males? I am looking for a photo of Griff #502 at NASS.

Just an FYI but I saw it mentioned earlier so I thought I would make a clarification. No one does "aus platz" any more because it basically sends a telegram to the judge that you have big problems with your dog. Aus Platz usually says, "weak temperament" and I can't stay here so I'm forced to or, I'll sneak cheap shots at the guy because I'm not really sure if I "want" to stay here either. In both cases it's hardly ever seen anymore, it did become popular for a short time but was frowned upon quickly and has gone the way of the sundial.

LOL!!
These videos are depressing, but thanks to whoever took the time to put them together and upload them! That probably took way more time and work than these dogs and handlers put into training...

Bancroft, if you have not seen w/l dogs who are s***ers, who tremble when brought on the field, you must be very more novice than I am.

I just watched the videos
Speaking to the conformation video, I have an absolutely honest question that I have always wondered as I don't show GSDs in conformation or Schutzhund (but do show my breed of choice in both venues). Why does a breed as highly intelligent as the GSD need a team of double handlers acting like idiots outside the ring to show correctly?
This is an honest question. Training a dog to gait well and at any length of time takes time and conditioning but that should be it. Ears up and attitude in the ring I guess can be produced by the outside influences but any show dog worth their salt will do this naturally.
Are people not embarrassed that they need to bribe their dogs to have a showy attitude and gait around the ring? Do ALL the dogs have double handlers or do some of them gait, stack, and show "expression" without the personal 3 ring circus outside the ring to get their attention? Honestly not looking at starting a war, I just have always wondered why this practice is not only utilitized widely but seemingly defended by many.

Psycht, it is because the GSD is far too intelligent to run (or gait) for extended periods of time with no motivation. The doubler is this motivation.
I have handled many GSD in the ring. The only ones who run with no doubler are the "spooks" who run from my foot steps pounding behind them.
hope this helps,
Rik

Thanks for the explanation Rik! How long is the dog gaiting for at a typical german style show? Also, on the video it seemed that the dogs got bunched up and were walking. Was that on purpose or a traffic jam? These shows are obviously quite different from the conformation shows that I am used to ;-)
