Like Jeff said,

He is just a nasty dog.  I do believe that the is a point of no return.  At least for him o be house broken.  not even sure if he can be crated.  Peeing/pooping away from the den is a natural instinct.  If this dig has spent lots of time sitting in his own stuff, that instince is pretty much squashed.  Be careful if you wash him too much it can burn the skin.  A god should only be washed 1 or 3 times a year.

The peeing takes the longest to get rid of. When male dogs start to figure out that they shouldn't mess in their crate, they still seem to think that they can pee as long as they lift their leg a little higher...of course most of it ends up in the crate.

One poster said the dog was communicating with you, & Sitsmom said poopy crate=freedom. I agree with both of those statements. I had a horribly nasty male that would foul his crate whenever he was crated & alone, the minute he was alone, no matter whether he had JUST gone poop outside, had NOT eaten....it didn't matter what you did, leave him alone, & BINGO! POOP! I struggled with this mutt for years, I think he finally out grew it. Interestingly, he developed anal furunculosis as an adult, so even once he was finally crate/housebroken, I still had to deal with his poopy butt! Neutering seemed to help a little...but I think if I had cottoned on to the 'put him in another crate' thing, so he wasn't rewarded with freedom every time he screwed up, maybe it could have been resolved sooner.....!! Good luck! jackie harris

Brynjulf... this is not a funny topic but dang you have a way with words that has me laughing and then because I'm a recovering catholic I feel guilty and need to confess, Jen
