Re Koach's recommendation to consider Eliot v Prevent as a potential stud: Eliot died last summer [2012] subsequent to a bloating incident, so that's not an option.
When tossing about terms such as 'good producer', one must first define the parameters being used. Has Bomber produced a vast number of offspring that have been on the championship teams of various countries? Maybe, maybe not [can't be bothered to look the data up, since I don't have a dog in this fight]... If that's the sole measure being used, then it must be specified that the discussion is being limited strictly to stud dogs which have proven themselves to be good producers of top sport dogs. Others may be more interested in how the dog produces as it pertains to a versatile, sound dog that can be successful in law enforcement work, or search & rescue, and are only interested in how the dog's offspring have fared in sport to the degree that they proved themselves capable of meeting the requirements to obtain the working titles.

Thank you DARYL and HEXE!!!! I knew there had to be some out there that understood what I was getting at. Perhaps it's because we have so many newbies on this board and they don't know the criteria of what it stakes to be a great producer? And it's nothing against the dog personally. It's just against bestowing the title of "great producer" on a dog that hasn't, YET, prove to be one.

I can understand that. And daryl, I have not argued anything, so I have no invalid argument. All I was saying was what I had personally seen, and wondering what ram's opinion of who is a good stud dog personally right now.

"MIGHYTZEUS YOU ARE RIGHT that nothing said here, so far, will convince me to say that Bomber deserves the title of great producer. your post even resorted to talking about his looks and what you've heard other people say about the dogs. Where is the proof??? Not "he looks good" and "I heard from my second cousin twice removed". PROOF?"
Touché. You're right. I'm not being sarcastic; rumors are what is killing the breed. I therefore remove my comments and opinions.

geez, got a bit bored on the pdb so haven't checked in for awhile - not a thing has changed, still debating bomber, still arguing over what a good dog is and isn't, still the winners are who posts last, who posts longest and who posts most often and all of it is just opinion stacked on opinion arguing with more opinion and nobody really has a clue.......the breed is led by blind children scrambling over each other to collect the most candy imo.
just a funny observation.

vk4- I got to say I disagree with your statement that the breed is being led by blind scramblers.
Do you see any of the people that 'truly' contribute to the breed posting here?
Any of the owners or trainers of some of the fantastic dogs mentioned in this thread debating the "my dog is better than yiur dog" posts!
NO, you don't. They have better things to do with their time than post here. Such as actually work with their dogs, improving on what theu have.
Back in the day, some would post and share their wealth of knowledge.

I've been here a few days longer than you, and I don't recall the "wealth of knowledge" that you do. And this forum has NEVER been good for the breed as much as the pimps that own them, or the folks that need their egos fed. Now, the workingdogforum.com was a better example of something good at one time, that gathered a diverse and knowledgeable group of people, who weren't simply interested in whoring out their particular flavor of the breed. So much of what makes a notable producer NOTABLE, the "Best producer"...for *whatever*, is placing it's progeny into the right hands, the handlers that help their dogs fulfill their best potential, by entering them in competition, working them on the streets, or whatever means can be used to reflect well on the said producer. Promoting the offspring IS promoting the producer.

forums are forums and people can like them or leave them or turn them into whatever they want it's a free planet almost, at least in countries where you got internet access to start with but i digress. this forum allows more free speech than any others where the mods dictate and only allow certain opinions to be posted and certain voices to shape others less knowing opinions, thats all fine in itself but for the unsuspecting newbs that think they might genuinely learn something about something on the inter-tubes then it gets problematic, exploitive etc. so i got no prob here, i like the free speech aspect here, usually i would not get to this many posts on a forum without being banned for calling people on their BS, and anyone who uses the internet as their primary source of knoweldge is mentally retarded anyway.
