I happen to know this Kennel very well having had Two Dogs from Rinus plus trained with him for a fair time, Purchased as 8 week old Pups and in time both finished up with anormal Hips and Elbows; I know for certain that all Rinus,s Breeding Dogs are Hip and Elbow Certified, AND they are Tested in the Sport of IPO without exception. and he always gets his Breeding Dogs UV tested and they are Korclassed; Now to this Guy who periodically slags this Kennel off. One thing is certain by the way he posts He does NOT have much idea on training a German Shepherd Dog. He is in a Wheel chair yet it seems that the dog he purchased has to be trained to a person that is wheel chair bound. How does he figure that out. The Dog would have been trained in Obedinece with a person who walked at the Dogs side that is for sure. AS for having the Dog around two years then it goes to Bite him Whos fault is that ? only the fault of the Handler at that time PLUS he said he was then scared of the Dog. Bad move and Bad training on his part. You never show fear to any Dog German Shepherd or a Poodle makes no difference ? He was supposed to be the trainer, It looks to me as if the Dog was training him. AS for the Dogs hips well The Photo is not so great to be  100% certain so thats a no go. you can carry on about that until the Cows come home it will not change it because only you knew how good the X-rays were done, and as said they do not look up to standard so we cannot say any other. Then you go have get the dogs hips operated on WHY, a dog with Hip problems can live a good life very much pain and trouble free if fed  right and given the right excersise and Supplements. I know a Dog in our Club now according to the x-rays taken he has Bad Hip Problems, These were taken at Two years old and i saw them only last week they looked bad. BUT they were taken badly? So the Handler at that time decided not to bother and pay again the Dog was working soundly, so he thought why do it he is not a breeder of Dogs, he  just likes to Compete in the IPO sport; So now this Dog is  now 10 years old, Still competing and he loves it can jump the A Frame and Meter hurdle with no problems still. Plus this same Dog won the IPO Provincial Championship 4 yrears running.
So if this OP  was that concerned then he should have got a second  or third opinion on this Dogs Hips before he subjected his Dog to an Operation which in all accounts would not have been needed;
He can Run Rinus down as much as he likes for as long as he likes but the fact does not change that the OP is not a Competent Trainer of these dogs and that by his own admission He was Frightened of his Dog, That says it all.
He was expecting the Dog to  respect him as its leader and Bow down to his commands, That just does not happen. You have to earn the Dogs Respect and Trust before you ever get anywhere with a Dog of any breed; Let alone an Intelligent an animal  such as the German Shepherd; and that this Guy did not do. He wanted everything on a Plate and what suffered in the end; The DOG of course he had it put down. Now he has a vendetta against the past owner . Not once has this Guy blamed himself in any way . it is only a one way ticket for him. I do not intend to drag this out with the OP because i am afraid i have little or no time for people like him .
I know RInus and i can tell you Guys that he is one of the most Respected Dog Handlers and Breeders in the World today. He does his best for everyone he deals with, read his Website and what the Buyers in the USA alone say about him; Now i have not spoken to Rinus since the middle of last December when my Gina went for her IPO1 exam; and i guess our paths will not cross until we meet at a Trial middle of next month or so.
I doubt that Rinus will ever read these posts as he does not normally go on Dog Sites and i for one will not tell him about it. now or in the future.
 As for the OP kicking Rinus arse if he was not in a wheelchair . a thing that has no meanful content as that will not happen and if it did then Rinus is big enoufh and good enough to Kick the arse of the OP easily enough. What the OP should be doing is to be a man and take some of the blame on his own shoulders and not blame others for everything.
I do not vist the Forum much since i left  around 16 months ago, I vowed never to post on this Forum again once i left it; I have broken the promise i made myself but it is wrong for me to read such stuff as i know the person being slagged off and say nothing to defend him would make me a right B-----d. You Guys can make up your own minds but i know who i believe and it is not the OP

Hundmutter, let me highlight the key portion of my above post, since you seem to have missed my point.

To be quite honest, I am still trying to figure out what the current problem of Derrick is, which caused him to create this thread.

The keyword being "current", since the event that he is digging up and posting within this brand-new thread, seems to have occurred years back, and was covered in prior threads, unless I missed something that you caught.

And as in all such things, there are 3 versions to everything.  The one related by the accuser.  Then another one related by the person being accused.  And then the real version.  So just jumping on someone because somebody else made some allegations (which to him probably is very much real) is not wise, unless you have some first-hand knowledge of the things that really happened.

I am still puzzled about the dog biting the OP (for whatever reason - we just don't know why) after 2 years of his arrival and the OP blaming the breeder for it....do you think that meets the "smell test" as far as that being the breeder's fault ?

AayKay, Hans gave you the ANSWER rather than the
QUESTION, aren't you going to have a go at him as
well ?  Please re-read my post - I said Derrick believes
he is justified, not that I think he is justified.  I am agree-
ing with you, man, especially about the last bit !
