Update on Frisko:  He had his 3rd treatment at the chiro and we're seeing a huge improvement.  He can now climb the stairs and even jump in the vehicle without our help.  This is so great to see him like that.  He still have some problems when turning, he doesn't have the flexibility he used to have but at least he walks better and is not scared anymore of climbing stairs. He's having less problems getting up.  We had his regular check-up...blood test and everything is normal.  His heart is okay. He lost a few pounds since last year but that's okay.  He's still 102 pounds, he was 112 last year.  So we're quite happy with the results and thank you for recommending the chiro; it's working.

It's so nice to see him feeling better....

Frisko
That is great news. I posted this link for someone else, which offers harnesses that look really good and comfortable, which may be something that could be useful sometime in the future.

http://www.hartmanharness.com/

It looks very handy to me, and much better than some of the slings and other aids that I've tried in the past. I haven't any personal experience of it, but I like the idea that you can leave the harness on the dog, when they need help to move around.

Hope you don't need anything like it for a long time!

BTW I used a McTimoney chiropractor for a GSD years ago who had spondylosis - it did wonders for her too.

Hi have you DNA tested your male for DM?

I recently had my 4yr old tested as vets feared he had it. It took about a week to get the results back and only cost £75.00. I found out he is a carrier but isn't affected by it. i think thats the first thing you need to do before you fear the worst.

So glad Frisko has improved with the chiropractic care!!! Its so great to hear that it has helped in such a short amount of time! I have checked a couple times for updates I have thought about Frisko a lot.

It sounds just like the way Arco improved!! I can tell when he needs to come in for an adjustment because he can't get on the bed or couch then we go see the Dr. and come home and he jumps up on the couch immediately.  We did get an x-ray of his back and it looked great! So I am considering the test for DM but at the same time what we are doing is working and it has already been about 2yrs since his first treatment and he is maintaining really well. He gets his daily exercise and eats good food so I am just not sure I really want to know.

Thank you Dodger for the advice.

We went back to the chiro after 3 weeks.  I think 3 weeks was too long. He really had problems getting up and walking.  I guess we need to go every 2 weeks. I can't remember if I mentioned it but the chiro is also using the amega wand....it seems to be working.
He's eating well and we give him vitamins (omega 3-6-9 and glucosamine with chondroitin).
