Thanks for all the info. Will I need to get the pup to the vet ASAP for shots and does the paperwork from Kirschental describe what shots she had in Germany?

Hello Bob,
together with the dog you will get a vaccination book, where you can see, which vaccination your puppy got. Also you will get a health certification which is just about 1 or 2 days old.
But do you know, what the most dangerous place for a puppy is? That is the waiting area in a vet clinic! When your puppy arrives, he is stressed from the long flight and the big change in his life and stress reduces the immune system.
In the vet clinic are most times sick animals and some of them also with infecting sicknesses. Therefore, please let your puppy never walk on the floor and don`t let him be in contact with other dogs there!
We had it already several times, that a small puppy got infected in the waiting area of a vet clinic, also in Germany. Please carry your puppy always on your arms and put him on the vet table and carry him after this back to your car!
And don`t get just from the airport into the vet clinic. Please let your puppy a few days time to adjust in his new home.

frogman, your pup will come with a "pet passport" with all pertinent info concerning vaccinations, worming etc.
I have not owned a dog from this kennel, but have never seen anyone dissatisfied or complain with their dogs.
What I have found with dogs from long lines of the same breeding/kennel is that the breeder usually strives to improve health, character, etc. with each breeding. I think you will find it much different getting a dog from a long line of an established breeder than one who only knows their dogs for a couple of generations.
congrats,
Rik

I did not deal with Kirschental directly, but have an awesome female from their kennel, gorgeous, very red and super bitework and major herding instinct too, not surprising though as her mother has 12 HGH titles. This female is 6 years old and has the stamina of a 2 year old in top condition. Everyone that meets her can't believe she is 6, she is tough as nails yet sweet as they come too. I look forward to someday getting another Kirschental dog. I've also heard they are great to deal with, I've also found that with Fritz Stenner from the Urbecke kennel. I really think the top kennels are at the top for great dogs and being great people to deal with. Good luck and we are looking forward to pictures when your bundle arrives

Thanks Barbie and Rik: I just wired my deposit to Marion Fuller yesterday so now it is becoming more real than when I was just thinking of doing it.
Does everyone recommend puppy kindergarten? I taught my Sadie hand commands and she remembered them even if I didn't use them for a year! She had a wild streak and would take off after animals like deer and once a wood chuck, always loved to scare off the geese near my house.
Can you train a GSD to stop chasing something once she has already begun the pursuit?
