In some cultures, cows are sacred.

I once had a little Jersey cow who was more biddable than some dogs I've owned. She gave me many years of affection and milk. When she could no longer give milk, she made some tasty hamburger.

Get a grip Mr. Hatfield-cows AND dogs are both animals-their owners have the right to determine their fates.

Food for thought: we cull livestock by shooting them in the head. The only differece is we eat the meat after culling.

I remember my Aunt culling her chickens by yanking their necks. (then throwing them in the pot).

These methods are not cruel. The cruel part of this story is the accidental breeding.  Some of you say it is easy to find a home for a pup. If that was so true we wouldn't have to put down thousands of dogs each year in shelters.

I do admit  the shoot with a 22 comment might have been insensitive but it was not cruel nor should we take it as a sign of animal torture. It may not be an option that we all may consider but it is a reasonable action.

Mistakes do happen but most of the time they happen from irresponsible or negligent actions.

Question to the OP: Normally do you keep your dogs in individual kennels, run in an open fence together, or in the house?

How did you guys get this far off topic?

Forget it, I see what happened.

Why is it so hard to stay on topic?

Should we just make the forum one crazy disjointed pile of crap? One thread, say what you want.

Geez, lets get this back on topic and quit this back and forth off topic BS. If you want to debate culling START A NEW THREAD.

Happy New Year all.

 Dear moderator,

I note the title of this thread did not much pertain to the content of the originating post , which consisted of two subjects:
1) What color might the puppies be?
2) That this was an unplanned breeding. This conversation progressed from that statement and is in fact very much on topic.

Dictating the flow of conversation based on selective dissection of a post is not moderation.

OP says:

"Hi, my all black workingline male has mated my black and tan showline female. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what colour the puppies may be. I might add, this was not an intentional mating, I did not realise she was in season but he did the randy so and so.

Con"

I see nothing in the original post about culling. This is about the color of a litter. This is a new poster and the topic IMO is hijacked. This is on topic how? The OP asked the color of the puppies and only a few offered help. Instead the thread is taken over on a debate on culling the litter. I am sure the OP is still listening and will get right on culling this litter.

Regards,
GSD
