Rugers Guru

AAAAWWWWWW!!!! I just found this, That is so sweet of you to say. It was a pleasure having you over. Sorry Ruger kept throwing things at you.... lol
I think if Robbi could tell his story, I would cry. I am going to contact the Sacramento Bee and tell them our story, If I could get just ONE person to start looking for their lost pet again, and find it... It would all be worth it to me.
VomMarischal, You have been there for me since the beginning and I did not even know it..... Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are so glad Robbi is home safe and sound, forever.

OMG, I have tears in my eyes.  I have been following your story since day one, when you posted on Craigslist about him missing, and your fight to never give up.  This IS truely a miracle, and I wish you, your family, and Robbi a wonderful life.  I'm so happy you found him...may I suggest if you haven't done so, post on Craigslist and let that community know that he has been found.  I know there were more people like me that were hoping and praying for the best.

That is a FANTASTIC idea!!!, Why didn't I think of that! I'll do it right now. Thank you so much for all of the support. I am truly blessed.
P.S. His leg is doing better, He can walk on it now but with a slight limp. I think he is just a big baby and is trying to get as much attention from me as possible now.

I had such a great response from Craigslist, I wanted to share.

I never gave up believing he would find you again. I often thought of you and Robbi, when I'd see an ad for a sable GSD. I think I saw that ad also, was he sitting by a screen door or something? If so,he did look bad. The good news is that the worst is over. Remember, dogs really do live in the moment, so don't feel sorry for his past, but celebrate the present! He'll quickly put on weight, and now that he's home where he belongs, he'll soon be his old self.
What a happy ending!

OMG!!! I am soooo excited for you! I work in rescue and remember when you started posting about Robbi. I had kept a picture and a copy of your ad and had checked to see if any GSD listed in a shelter or on line was him as well. I am in tears also as I am just so happy for you all. It just goes to show, never give up hope and a dogs resilience and love will always come through. I would love to have a picture of you guys now to send to all the rescues whom I has sent out the message too. It is also a great booster for those of us who work in rescue and hope that owners are found and that they do care until the end of time.
Big hugs to you and yours! Give Robbi a big hug and kiss from me.
--Carrie

I remember your ads and I am so elated to see such a wonderful end to your story. I'm so glad Robbi is doing okay and home safe. I work in cat rescue so I am always on Craigslist and it so wonderful to hear about happy endings. It amazes me on how many animals go lost. It breaks my heart. I know I don't know you but I do pray for animals that are lost and I so happy for your family. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Hopefully this will give others a reason not to give up on their lost animals.Take care and have a blessed day.

What a sweet story. I remember that ad for the free GSD..but it's been so long since I saw your ad, I didn't put two and two together.
I'm so happy that you posted about finding him. Some people don't and it leaves the impression that there are all of these animals out there somewhere, but none of the shelters have them.
Wow 2 and a half years. That's huge for a dog.
Dog's are more resilient than kids, he'll be fine. All of your scents are there and he'll slide right in to your routine.
The ticks and injuries concern me though, has he seen his vet? You might at least have a blood test and check up just to make sure he hasn't acquired anything that might risk infections...I'm sure that's occurred to you.
Here's a tear and hug from a pet lover to you, give Robbi a pat for me.
I've been fortunate to have never "lost" a pet..meaning stolen or escaped. Personally, I'm hyper attentive..I use kennels and only let mine out to potty and sunbathe. None of my pets are outdoor pets, but GSD love to live in or out..with outdoors being preferred.
So happy for you and yours.

Dear poster,
I read your ad about your reunion with your old hound. It warms my heart to hear that you are back with your old dog. I recently lost my dog to the same situation. Her name is Domino, a pit bull puppy, almost 17 weeks old. We got her when she was 10 weeks old. I love that dog to death. I slept with her every night since we got her. She was so obedient and playful. Anyway, your story has brought hope for me to up my search. I have been posting ads on craigslist in hopes of getting a positive lead and looking online every day since she was taken and had little to no leads. This doesn't mean I will give up, however. I will find her one day and she will sleep with me again!

Just a polite bump.
Also wanted to let you all know that I am taking him to be evaluated this weekend. His leg is better, and he is healthy once again. Here is the original post = http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/223182.html?pagen=2  I also might have to re-home him.

by VomMarischal on 09 April 2010 - 06:04

But why?

Rugers Guru

by Rugers Guru on 09 April 2010 - 07:04

I don't want to be selfish, he cannot come in the house because he will eat my daughters cat, he already ate a chicken (jumped the fence), and I will not have the time for him that he deserves. He is "too much dog" for my daughter to handle, and GOD this sounds like a cop-out. I just want to be fair to him. Kennel life is no life for a pet. I am just one person, and trying to train 3 high drive dominant dogs is going to be impossible, it is hard enough to raise 1 at a time. Maybe, just maybe if he does well this weekend, I will give Ruger to my daughter to continue his OB. And I can concentrate on my new girl, and him. I didn't expect all of this, I don't know if I am capable of making everyone happy all the time.

You have suffered so much over this whole thing. I know what kind of person you are, and I know you'll do what is best for everyone. I'm just so sorry you had to endure the whole awful catastrophe. If there is anything I can do, call immediately. Even if it's just do dump on me. Also, I have a friend who specializes in reactive pit bulls; let me enlist her help before you do anything drastic, OK?

I'm so sorry to hear you may have to rehome him.  Ups and downs in life with dogs.  I'm sure you'll do what's best for all concerned and far be it for anyone else to judge.  You've had enough on your plate and I hope it works out so that all can be happy.  Best to you.

Love the new "signature" VM
