I was thinking that I do not require my dogs to work for their food.  I have never had a food aggressive dog or one that was very possessive about their meal or dish.  Food has always been delivered calmly and in a matter-of-fact way and they are never disturbed while eating.  However, I realized that I really do require some ob before feeding.  They are never allowed to jump for it.  And in the mornings when taken out to their food, MUST behave calmly, not pull, sit before doors, move out only when told to do so and walk calmly to the back door, sit until I tell them they can go and only then get their food.  So I guess, I really do make them work for it,LOL!

Might I add that my dogs are all crazy for their food and if don't want to eat, something is seriously wrong.
Also, when pups, they track for food, sit for food, platz for food, etc.  If that's not working for food, I don't know what is.  Just a different way of looking at it.

Having them sit, not jump up, etc. Is what I was referring to as manners at feeding. So I guess you can say, if you call that working for their food, I too, am guilty :) As a matter of fact, now that I think of it, all but one gsd that was born and raised here by me, even pick there bowl up after eating and bring it to me. I didn't teach it to them, it's just something they all do. If they are in a crate when I feed them, they hand it to me out the door; also the same whether in the house or out in the kennel. Makes it convenient picking up the bowels after meals.:)

Your boy is beautiful. I think his lack of interest in eating is his way to tell you to get with the program. He enjoys pleasing you,and WANTS to work for his food. He goes on little hunger strikes until you notice ,lol.(I say that in a good, well meaning way).
