Tammy - just a suggestion.......
I sell all my puppies with limited registration. If someone wants to breed, they must have hips/elbows certified, some kind of a working title (SV or AKC) and some kind of a show title (SV, AKC or UKC). So many people buy a pup, don't train it well and then decide that want a litter, with limited registration, most decide to neuter or spay them instead of breeding.
If one of my puppy owners does all the work, then I gladly upgrade to unlimited registration for free. So far, only 1 puppy has been upgraded to full registraiton.

I was suggesting that if the dog started having pain in her elbow, she could have it fixed. Never suggested using the dog for breeding. In SV system, A3 dogs are "still breedable", but not sold on the idea.

There is a new dna test in Germany that has identified genes for HD in GSD's, they are still working on ED, but are close to finding them. I believe there are 5 or 6 genes involved in the HD portion of it. Bermese Mountain Dogs are able to get both hips and elbow genetics tested at this time.... Hopefully in a few years, we will all be able to test our dog and djd will be a thing of the past.

" Thanks for all your feed back. and The One who said there is enough pups being born, look at my 2 compared to the 15 plus litters produced a yr by Show Breeders, 9-13 pups a litter your producing to many litters and not enough homes at these 2500 - 5,000 a pup. prices,....."

I was "the One" making this statement, but you totally misunderstood my intention...

It´s not about money, it´s not about the amount of litters, it´s about quality - and a brood bitch with a non passing elbow, without show results, and without working titles ( or AT LEAST proof of working ability ) is a NO-GO.
The German Shepherd is a working dog breed, everybody involved in this breed should care at least about health, and at least for me that´s far away from enough.

You x-rayed this female - good decision - now act accordingly.

Asking for a refund? You didn´t buy this female from the breeder, but from someone else, hoping to buy a cheap brood bitch. Why didn´t you x-ray immediately?

Right now you have two choices : Either you like this dog and keep her as a beloved pet, or you give her back to the breeder who thankfully offered to take her back.

Only for the record: If you want to be a part of this very special breed you should start to care about working abilities, too.

Im not an inexperience Shepherd Person, I just never had to deal with an issuse like this . Ive had them for just a pet since i was a Kid, This Girl is very alfa but she loves Puppies, and protects them. Shes a Good Dog. Most likely after i get her spayed she will just become the pet of the house.. There is no guarantee you will buy a Dog or Puppy that doesnt end up with a Heriditary Problem no matter how Much testing is done. This is my Teva

sitasmom. i only produce 2 litters a yr like i said, I sell all my puppies as Pets with a contract to spay and limited Reg..  But i will not breed a Dog with a Problem, I dont want to put a Damaged dog in someones hand let alone having a Dog that will suffer. Many yrs Back i had to put a 2 yr old Pekingese Down liver cancer. I showed and Bred them for 30 plus yrs , I so loved the breed, Then i was hit by a Drunk Driver, 4 arm surgeries later i couldnt Show Or brush there 3 layer thick  coat out,  so i did a little bit of rescue till i started getting my european show lines in the shepherds my first was an American show, but i love the Red in the euopean lines better. Im an ex show person so im hooked on the show lines. Once its in your blood its there for life. Im a honest person i cant produce bad puppies to give them that heart ache   i need  SV site to check on health clearance, on my Teva Neither of her parents was on the OFA , but on the Pedigree website they were tested but i cant find it ENGLISH Please.  the onlt thing i found on the OFa is her mother is a DM carrier, which teva was clear.  her sire is.  XENOX  Vom Frankengold,  dam : Accie Vom Clearcreek Brauemhof

Here sire Xenox vom Frankengold is HIPS - A1 (normal)... on his pedigree on this site it does not say what his elbows are.

Here is what I got for his ZW scores..  So he has a low ZW score of 73.

Name Zwinger SZ-Nummer Zuchtwert
Xenox Frankengold 2224291 73

Glad to hear you like her, good looking female...with a grade1 she may become old and remain healthy, able to give you and your family a lot of love.

Xenox is HD/ED normal ( SV )
Accie seems to be HD normal / ED noch zugelassen / I can´t verify her results, found them on WinSis, but normally they are pretty accurate http://www.schaeferhunden.eu/winsis_x/winsisshowdog.php?tp=5&bb=AKC%20DN&id=16152204
Kind regards

Is the whole world nucking futs?

Are we really whining about a DJD1 (which is such a gray area anyway...) and being out a "lot" of money on a cheap dog bought for breeding? No one who doesn't fully understand what a DJD1 is and is not or may or may not be has any business considering breeding anyway.

And on another note, did I misunderstand Marjorie's post or are we really saying a DJD1 dog had their elbows "fixed"? What on Earth would you do a DJD1??

Poor dogs...sorry I checked the forum for the first time in eons.

Casey James had surgery on his elbows because he had UAP in both elbows :( DJD had already set in :( By fixed, I mean I had a choice of puuting pins and screws in the ununited flap to keep the flap from rubbing against the other part of his elbow, or cutting off the flaps. I chose to have the flaps removed, rather than putting in pins and screws which may or may not have held up over the years.. Perhaps *fix* was the wrong word- it didnt *fix* his elbows but it stopped the DJD from getting worse.
