I rather thought that they were speaking of 'fading puppy syndrome'--not faded pigment. There were many old wives tales linking colors to certain traits....sables are harder to train& more feisty natured, black & tan saddles (yes they were called TAN back then, LOL!) we're smarter & steadier nerved....blacks were prone to diseases....! My girl's breeder was from back in the day, & she shared some of the tales she had heard of with me. "Of course I never believed that stuff!" she said! She loved her sables.....!
