Trainers/Helpers that refuse to evolve in their methods & ideals. limiting their capabilities...
They become stagnant and can only assist "one kind of handler/owner, and one kind of dog"......

Handler/Owners that jump from one helper/club to another...over and over again...not allowing themselves or their dogs to actually learn anything productive.
...just a couple of my own peeves....

KCzaja...that was a good one!  I'd like to add another....how about the judges who have a BFF entered and they make it so obvious....it's one thing to help a friend, but when you make it soooo obvious, it's pathetic especially when the BFF competing is a former world team member.  C'mon people...they f.. it up for everyone.  How can you live with yourself, it's really a shame.

Add all you want. I figured we'd get it narrowed down to myself. I am the only perfect person out there. Just wish cloning was cheaper.

Want to add a few people. 6. The DB that follows the Semi for 5 miles doing 60 mph on a 2 lane highway and decides to pass the semi at 60 mph when I arrive doing 85 mph. He can't wait until I pass? 7. The DB's brother that stays in the passing lane under the speed limit.

Don,
like this last one. Hubby is a OTR - what 4 wheelers will do around a big rig...geez...
I have another to add to the list - the president of a club who thinks its THEIR personal club. Everything revolves around THEIR dogs, THEIR like or dislikes, THEIR goals. The club isn't a club, it;s a dictatorship. Not much fun for the rest of us...

Flygirl,
Just gotta ask...do you participate in the club as a board member?  Not saying that you are guilty of this but I have noticed in our club that those who refuse to hold office often think the same way.  They show up "occassionally" and disrupt the whole training session doing things "their" way and then complain when someone, usually the president insists that club protocol is followed.  In our case, the property we train on just happens to belong to the president of the club and a lot of the equipment is her own personal property.  Some members may not like it that she insists the training start on time and the rules & bylaws are followed or the property respected but hey!  All they have to do is vote her out and take her position if they think they can do a better job.  I've heard a lot of bitching about her but she is always there, on time, follows the rules and doesn't put up with nonsense.  She puts a lot of time and personal money into the club functions.  No, she is not perfect.  If you are not happy with your club president, jump right in there and run for office.  And yes, I hold office.  I am the Secretary/Treasurer of our club.  I hold two offices because other memebers can't be bothered and we are a small club.  This is not directed at you Flygirl...but since you brought it up...

I guess I'm actually adding to the list of people to hate...those who don't do squat for the club other than bitch because they don't like the way things are being done and are not willing to hold office to help make changes.

Deb,
Not only have I participated in this and several clubs as a very active member , but I have also held offices, planned and worked the trials, put seminars together.... so I'm at ground zero. No, I am not one of those that trash folks just because... In fact, in one instance, the club became so disfunctional that a small group of us split off and did our own thing- our own helper, found a place to work the dogs and so on. You would be amazed at the number of people who wound up drifting over to us. We had fun,  and the rule was NO TRASHING EACH OTHER!  As for voting the person out, especially if the place is theirs and the "toys" are also theirs, you take the risk that the person will take their "toys" and go home and leave you with a club but nowhere to go....seen it happen....more than once.....

Fly,
Yup.  Seen it here too.  If people would just follow the golden rule there would be a lot less strife in the clubs.  We don't allow any trash talking at our club.  Those that left (some voluntarily and others were asked to leave) were trouble makers and trash talkers.  They went off and formed their own club with no national affiliation that I am aware of.  They are doing a good job with their dogs.  They occassionally come by, to our trials, seminars and parties and they are welcome... as long as they behave and we have had no problem with them sharing our space.  Maybe someday we will join back up together for for now we have a small but good, solid club and they are happy with their club.  We can still have fun, share ideas and methods.  Sometimes you have to take that chance and vote 'em out and just be ready to step up and do what needs to be done to secure a new training location and to do fund raisers to buy more equipment.  If someone really loves the sport they will gladly hand over the reins to someone else and continue to let them use the property & equipment.  Being voted out of office doesn't mean being voted out of the club.  It wouldn't hurt my feelings to be ousted.  I would gladly let someone else have the responsibility.  I'm betting with all your experience you have run into the same thing we do and that's lack of member participation.  Everyone wants to be a member and work their dogs.  It's always the same few doing all the work, week in and week out.  I wonder if you get the same excuses we do as to why someone has to cut and run before all the equipment is put away or even before all the dogs have had a chance to be worked.  We lost a couple of members because they felt their time was more valuable than that of others and demanded they work their dogs first.  Never lifted a finger to help others and trash talked when they didn't get their way.  They were asked to leave.  I think the secret is to keep it friendly, keep it honest and no back biting or trash talking.   It's all about the dogs!   Good to know you're not one of them...but then again...I didn't think you were.
