While the dog may not know the language you are speaking they can tell a lot by the tone of your voice, by talking calmly and not screaming or raising your voice you can get through to the dog. No matter what language they all understand a scratch on the belly of pat on the head.
Now a year later she is very attached to me, infact she was st the kennel for 2 weeks while in season. When I picked he up she was turned out into a play area to potty, there is a 6 foot wooden fence around it and when she heard my voice on the other side of the fence she cleared to fence ran to me at sat in front of me.

In contrast to Felloffher's experience, I had been told everything by the people I got my one dog from. I was warned no less than 5 times that she has a civil side and told not to correct her too hard at first. I already knew what she did and didn't know (she knew more than she let on, lol) but she simply wouldn't obey me because I didn't have her respect yet, which I admire. She wasn't ill behaved, but she wasn't about to concede or acknowledge my authority just yet.
She had never been in a house-didn't even want to come in- acted like it was a trap. She finally believed me that I wanted her in the house and she was not going to be beaten for coming inside, and then she was all over the counters, tables, etc. ZERO house manners. She has never dared get on the furniture though, ironically. The other things just took time to work on and once in a while she still forgets and jumps up on a counter but besides that, you'd never know she was never a house dog. She's calmer than my dog who didn't see a crate until he was 2 and was always always always a house dog exclusively. She also is more appreciative (for lack of a better word) of small privileges than my other spoiled brats who think they just have it coming. ;-)

I've imported 3 dogs -
Hero was 3 months and seemed to be fine, except for the hoarsness from barking non-stop.
Hanny was 6+ years and a bit confused by the difference in lauguage, english is more harsh then slovak and she seemed concerned expecially when the TV was on. She bonded very quickly.
Quando was 3 years and seemend OK, he was also used to German and was a bit confused, taking on him walks seemed to comfort him.
The two adults have been so well behaved and calmed in the house, the pup was crazy of course.

I can relate with the dog not being used to the house. The first time I let mine come in the house she took a big dump on the living room floor. House breaking a 4 year old dog isn't something I want to do again.
Frogman,
I bought my dog from Aritar Bastet Kennels in Czech. My experience with them was very good and I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone.
