Yes, I am quite sure that is the case, 5 of them do have Ursus and I know there has been concern about the need to promote other bloodlines too.

Not all stud dogs can produce good males.  Ursus was a producer of good males as well as females (male dogs influence the breed more than females).  He also produced sound temperament and good working ability along with the fault of a short angulated croup.  If you are lucky enough to live with direct Ursus progeny, you will know why the dog is so prevalent in the pedigrees.  It is type, character, good heads, good color and the ability to perform on the protection field.  His line produced 2 X VA 1 Yasko, VA1 Tabatha (bitch),   His line was so consistent in good production that there was almost a bottleneck and alternatives were sought.

But he was one of the most influential dogs in the breed in the past 10 years.

As I understand it, his owners never sold him and he remained in good hands to his last days.  That is very comforting to know.

Another era, another dog, but the same conversations!
Twenty years ago the talk was of Uran Wildsteiger Land, when it should have been about Palme, who actually had far more influence on the breed being the dam of more than just one VA son and before that, Canto, Quanto, Mutz not forgetting Horand himself !! . But it is good to talk.  The secret is in not doubling up on any of them until at least the 3rd generation and only then if you need to.

Ok Thanks everyone. So i understand from the replies, that he was an excellent producer & produced a 2x world seiger  himself.

Interesting that no-one commented about the satured genetics in the showline - of which this is an example.

Well we did actually, as I mentioned 4 of this year's 9 VAs do not have Ursus and I think there has been deliberate attempt to diversify the bloodlines. But Ursus not only produced a double sieger (who in his turn produced another 2 x sieger and more VAs), but also other sons who have been popular and much used and this line continues to produce VAs - eg Ghandi Arlett - Ingodds Agassi and Uran Moorbeck (father of VA Quenn, father of more VAs) just as a couple of examples. So Ursus has made, and is continuing to make an enormous contribution and I also think that most showline breeders and the judges of the sieger show are aware of the need to diversify too.
